I recently decided that i would give World of Warcraft another whirl. Not a bad game for what it is,simplified PvP combat and enough things to do to keep most anyone busy.
What really bothers me though is standing in line to get into a server not to mention the tuesday downtimes that last 6 to 8 hours.
With all the cash Blizzard is making on a monthly basis this standing in line business shouldnt even be happening.I can understand server maintenance and even standing in line for the dungeons or battlegrounds but i just want to play my only character ATM and not have to wait for 30 minutes.
Oh well.....

Stop playing on high pop servers then.
Also you should be sleeping when there doing maintenence.
No, it's a valid point. World of Warcraft is a very fun game, but the server performance issues of late blow chunks.
I wouldn't have an issue with queues either if it meant minimal lag once I got in. However, this hasn't been the case for the past week or so. Last night, I waited for 10 mins and got in with over 2500ms latency. The instance server farms are even borked.
I'm not sure if there's been that much of an influx of new players or what, but Blizzard needs to come up with an innovative solution other than 'move to a low pop server'. That excuse was ok last year as a temporary fix.
Like I said, WoW's very fun and the server issues are really my only gripe.

The only things i disklike about WoW are 1rst: General chat. every time i used to play i would just leave the channel, heh, just pure non-sense, seriously, ive seen more inteligent discussions on counterstrike servers.
Orgrimar General Chat:
`OMFGSTFULMAOWTFBBQ!`
`reported`
`Vin diesel`
`i pwn0rate`
`i raped your mother`
`reported`
`reported for reporting`
`heh, other mmo`s are so g4y`
`LMAO! PWN OMG OMG!`

Also seems everyone in WoW owns everything, everywhere, and they seem to have this fixation with peoples mothers, and chuck noris/Vin Diesel. which got old about 4 months ago... well other peoples mothers was burnt about 18 years ago, but whos counting.
There is also the cookie cutter quests to go along the dryest storyline ever.
`Go kill this bad magic person for this stolen/revamped magic item so we can use its magic and make our magic stronger so that we can beat more evil magic, because everyone but us is bad, and stuff... now go, and please 23 bears also, the brown ones, not the black ones, they are infected by this bad magic and will atack you because of the bad magic controlling them.`
But otherwise, i dunnno, it could be decent... if it werent for the kids mostly.
If you are a hardcore WoW fan please dont be offended, this is just my 2 cents, and im just trying to get my site-status up so i can vote for EVE online in the top MMO poll.
Well its not just happening with high pop servers.Last nite i picked a low pop new pvp server and STILL waited for 10 minutes to start a NEW character.
BTW when the server maintenance is going on im at work but i come home for lunch and usually play for an hour or so.Not on tuesday's though.
Just about every server is a high pop server.
Im just killing time with it anyway WoW is just ok for what it is.In no way does it ruin my day to not play it.All im saying is at the rate of 5 million players x 14.95 a month average Blizzard is making some cash. The least they could do is fix the standing in line issues or open up more servers. For me it says a lot when they dont pay attention to the simplets details.

I have to agree that the monthly income Blizzard is making should allow them to open a lot more servers so that most of the servers aren't sitting at max. As for playing on a low pop server this is only valid if you are just starting the game. I started on day one so my character is stuck on his max pop server and is not open to transfer to another server. I have to wait through queues like most other players and refuse to start over because Bliz is unable to handle the demand they have for their game. Well I should say I used to wait in queues, but because of this problem and several others (mostly Customer support) I have with their game I am no longer a paying customer and never will be again.

Yeah im pretty sure im not going to be playing much longer just out of frustration of standing in line for 20 to 30 minutes.
There are plenty of other mmo's that dont make bucket loads of cash that dont have this problem.Interesting how Blizzard makes a lot of money from WoW but cant resolve this issue and doesnt seem to be working on it either.

I havn't played WoW in a while, but it reminds me of the server incidents when WoW was first released. Looks like they made a lot of progress since then.

The sad part is, they did. This time last year Blizzard first implemented queues when server performance issues started cropping-up. After January, the problems seem to have abated until recently.
I didn't see a queue until Novemeber, and even then the wait was only 2 - 4 minutes. However, after getting in the lag was minimal. Now, after waiting the lag is horrible.
