Time for a new Open-World PvP, Sandbox game!

stryderhd2stryderhd2 Member Posts: 5

Hey guys I have played Elder Scrolls Online for about a month now and there's really a lot of things that I don't enjoy about it. But anyway, I am looking for an MMO that gives me a sandbox feel to it. I played Darkfall: The Unholy Wars, which wasn't bad but it was infested with hackers and what not. I like open-world PvP, battlegrounds, PvE Raids, Flashpoints/Dungeons, and I am more of a hardcore MMO person who likes persistence, if you die, you get looted, but it doesn't have to have that.

Here's some of the major things I want to have in the game:

1-Open World PvP

2-PvE Raiding (8/16/32, one or more of those types)

3-Group instances/Dungeons or Flashpoints

4-Battlegrounds/Warzones

5-Open Loot System (hardcore)

A game with most of those features would really interest me, I am just bored in ESO where all I feel like I'm doing is quest grinding, the PvP is crap when your under level 50 or even 50 with Veteran Level 10's killing you easily, and the Dungeons are mediocre at best.

I don't think a game with all of that exists.  I'd like to hear about it though if it does.

For open world pvp, full loot, and still having some PVE content I only know of Mortal Online and EVE Online.

Neither forces you to quest, MO doesn't even have any quests after the tutorial.

EVE probably has the more ironed out PVE game, and is more polished in general by a long shot.  At the same time though you play a spaceship whereas MO is a fantasy setting.  MO is one of those games made by a dude in his basement and run similarly.  it has a lot of minor bugs but is very playable if you don't mind its faults.

you won't find battlegrounds or instanced content in either.

Sadly, outside of EVE Online there just doesn't exist a really well made sandbox game I know of with well integrated PVE and PVP content.

Well eve online will give you PVE raiding and open world pvp with open loot system. It kinda has dungeons to. If you get a ps3 you can play dust with it which will give you warzones and battle grounds, and that also has basicly open loot system.

I don't like EvE Online, but I do like games like Darkfall Unholy Wars and stuff like that.

You could do a player ran Ulitma online shard, that would have open world pvp. Dungeons not instanced though, and pve raids.

I'm thinking of almost just going back to play Darkfall for a month, lol, I could forego the Dungeons.

It's up to you but I can definitely tell you that there is no "hacker problem" in dfuw. I'm not gonna say nobody hacks, but I don't think I've ever had a situation where somebody has killed me unreasonably quick to make me suspicious. And a lot of people have pvp videos that make it pretty obvious that they're just good, not hacking. So again, I can't say nobody hacks obviously, but I have no reason to think it 's a problem.

Also, I'm not sure how long ago you played but a lot of stuff has been added over the past year (since launch). And the forthcoming combat update is going to completely change the game. Essentially they're getting rid of classes and giving everybody the ability to pick and choose their abilities. The details haven't been released yet (because they're still working on them) and there's no official date for it, but it looks like it'll probably be sometime this month.

3 or 4 people in my clan I was in when the game came out were caught and smeared our guild name on the website, it was ridiculous, people I thought I could trust and shit, it was ridiculous, I'll say it again lol

I don't suggest trying darkfall until or if they release the new classless system and add content to the game. I unsigned personally and am not looking back. Game flopped in my opinion. There are a lot of new sandboxy games on the way if you can pass some time. Look into the repopulation. It will be nice and close to what you seek. Tons of others coming this year

Alright, well you sure not for just like a month until some more time passes?

It would make a decent time filler for a few months. Who knows, if they pull off the changes it may just be where you spend some time. If you're turned off by "hackers" then you may not enjoy it. There are still some hacks around. And or players with enough skill that group together that they may as well be hacking if you're concerned with getting face plowed it will happen. If you do play just into it with an open mind of you are going to get ganked and face rolled and lose gear bags. Find a guild and roam with them.

Yes, good advice. Definitely be ready to get rolled and lose gear bags! Though I definitely disagree about the hacker comment. I pvp a lot and if I've ever run into a cheater, I wouldn't have known it. Like I said before, I have no reason TO think people are hacking, so it's really not a problem. Some people are more suspicious than others though, and some people are just looking for excuses when they die to somebody.

Also, the repopulation does indeed look amazing. The only thing is that I don't think the pvp is going to be as good as darkfall's (depending on what you're looking for). Darkfall is the more fast paced, twitchy, competitive style pvp. Not only that, the combat update is definitely going to be in before the repopulation comes out.

I don't know why more developer's don't create these types of games, I mean every time one is released it is such a monster success they would get their investment back in no time. There must be some reason. Hmm.

I would love to see more companies take on darkfall style games. I sense some sarcasm tho. Sadly most people don't enjoy losing items when getting killed and I understand their point. Some days I just don't feel like risk and enjoy casual Pvp. Others I need to get that hardcore fix. Hopefully we sees trend in games this and next year, and more sandboxy Pvp oriented games come around.
