I tried to buy the game twice last night.  Both times failed because it says my address wasn't valid.  I gave up I moved on and got a copy of FF14 instead.  Today I wake to find I was charged twice for the game and was never emailed a game code.  Now I have $12 to last me till next payday.  I am beyond pissed.  Anyone else have similar issues?

I had to use a second credit card to sub for the game. For whatever reason the first card didn't go through. Never got a code or transcript e-mail about it. Found out a few days after that it got charged anyways. I contacted customer service and they took care of it for me. You just have to explain to them the situation about the address not being valid.

Not really. Contact their customer support explain the issue in a  rational and calm manner and I am sure they will arrange a refund.

This same thing happened to me last week when i tried buying SOE currency. It denied me for some reason but since i tried it four times they charged me 4 times on my card. Don't worry though, it was just a hold. The money got refunded to me in 3 or 4 days. I'll bet the same happens to you.

There is a known issue with using the Firefox browser and getting the "invalid address" failure.  Using Google Chrome instead solved my problem right away.   But, I never got charged for the times that the address failed.

contact them, they should refund that money because it was clearly an error on their system. If they refuse to refund just do a charge back (or whatever its called) and enjoy FF instead.

Its funny how subscription based mmos tend to have billing issues almost every time. EnMasse used to not let people remove the CC from their site even if you didnt subscribe to TERA. EAWare soon after launch removed the button to cancel subscriptions conveniently right before the typical month was up so people were getting charged for another month in SWTOR. They said it was a bug but im sure they thought people would keep playing anyway and accept it.... yeah right. And now this. -Actually, no.... its not funny.

do a chargeback... contact CC company and explain the issue, they'll make a chargeback and you'll get your money back.

I would not recommend this as the first course of action. First step would be to contact Zenimax support. I could also be the matter of the money sitting in reserve, if so they will automaticly revert in a  few days.

Should these both fail, a charge back  would be a option.

This have been a good conversation

I hope you get your money back. $12 left I would be upset too . I know that they charged people who took 6 months of subscription and the money disappeared from their account and put on hold, can you imagine 6 months of subs ...whooosh!. I hope they got their money back and so will you.

Call Zenimax, they have been giving people refunds left and right that are not happy with the game.  They gave paypal the right to refund without going through them at all.  They know there are problems and people are not happy.  Shouldn't be hard at all to get your money back.  I would also cancel whatever card you used if they said they wouldn't open a chargeback case.  That is a client right with a card.  You may not get the money back but you can always open a case for them to look into.

[mod edit] I'm sorry, but when you start giving some poor stranger on the internet shit because he's asking a simple question involving them being broke until their next payday, how the hell do you return to that with sarcasm and snipe?

    [mod edit]

    As for the OP-

    1. Contact Zenimax.  If you go to ESO's website, there is a Support link at the bottom.  Sadly, the only way to contact them is to email them, and Lord only knows how many refund emails they have to trudge through before you get your refund.
    2. Just to cover all tracks, contact your bank.  I don't know whom you bank with, but a good bank (and usually if it's one of the more popular chains like BoA or Suntrust) will let you charge it back.  Simply explain that you only wanted one, and NEVER AUTHORIZED THE OTHER PURCHASE.  This, in a good bank, will set up some red flags and perhaps get you some of your money back quicker (no promise on both of them).
My boyfriend works in a Credit Card fraud alert department.  He says he has dealt with many people that say they have been charged more for this game than they intended to pay- be it subscription or just the actual game.  That's not to say that Zenimax is actively frauding people, but there is something wrong with how some people are being charged.  Ain't no denying that at this point, and it's something they're really going to need to work on (above the bugs in-game) if they want ESo to float.  BUGS IN-GAME ARE NOWHERE NEAR AS IMPORTANT AS BUGS IN YOUR REAL-LIFE MONEY SYSTEM!!!

I hope you get your money back in a timely fashion.  I've been there before, and without sarcasm or witty little clever repartes, I have to say- I'm sorry for your situation.  It is bullshit, ye.

I work for a department that deals with problems like this.  If your game order did not actually go through, these are simply authorization holds and depending on your financial institution will drop off on their own within a few business days.  Depending on who the bank is that issued your card, Zenimax may be able to work with them to have the auth holds drop off more quickly.

My credit card company has always come through on chargebacks.  over the years I've done it about 6 times.   They are very aggressive with their investigations.  Once I went through the company I had a problem with as they had charged me for something I had returned.  Customer service was helpful and eventually had the charge removed.  Right after that the charge was reapplied.  Contacted the credit card company and that was the end of that.  Charge removed for good.

Agree, contact Zenimax as your first option.  If they are reasonable as others here have noted when trying to get refunds, they should accommodate you.  Please let us know how this resolves regardless.

So glad I stopped using my CC on anything online for about 5 years now. All these issue's I see people having. I simply do not trust my CC details to be online anymore.

Since then have alway's bought time cards and while I never have run into those issue's some people seem to have when I used my CC for games, I also have not run into any issue since using game time cards.

So I would suggest people stop using their CC for games to be on the "safer" side.

CC companies do not like doing charge backs unless its a last resort. What people here do not understand about a charge back is even though they get their money back, the CC company has to follow through with dispute filings that will cost them money in the long run.

It is best to go after the refund from the party first.

I am still waiting for the one month sub fee Zenimax "reserved" from my bank account to "verify" whether my credit card was legit or not. Surely contacting them is a viable solution, oh wait..
