Are there any videos explaining what this MMO is all about?

tixylixtixylix Member UncommonPosts: 1,288

I get frustrated these days as I just wanna see the structure of the MMO, but you never get those videos any more. I wanna see how the world is constructed, is it all seamless, how is the PVP built, is it world PVP or just BGs?

etc etc.

Are there any videos explaining all that? Right now it just looks like another WoW clone and there is nothing showing what it offers.

The official site has an absurd amount of videos and media. I'm a little surprised you like information in this format but you haven't seen them prominently anywhere. They're easy to find and they've been shared on a lot of fan sites and here.

filter to Devspeak videos, those are the information you'll be more interested in, the others are informative but meant to be more like entertaining infomercials.

Most of the game is seamless and can walk from one end to the other. Some instance things like BG. Nothing in this game is overly new but everything is done very well and in a way that will keep you on your toes. Some of the best dungeons and raids I have seen in a MMO. level 1-20 is kinda a drag but once you get past 20 you will see this for the gem it is. PvP is all instanced, BG, arenas and something called Warplots that are one of the best PVP plans I have seen in a while. Google "Warplots"

Crafting takes the best of many games and mades it again their own but will be only for hardcore crafters, IMO thats a good thing. If you craft get ready to be involved. Housing is a huge part of the game and even people who dont like housing love it. Its parrt of every part of the game from raids, PvP to crafting. If you play the game dont pass by this gem.

Combat is fast and telagraphed. First part of the game it makes things seem easy but trust me its not. They use telagraphs in ways I have not seen before and will have you dancing like no MMO before this. Boss fights are so awesome from dungeons to raids.

All classes can DPS and also Tank or Heal. Freedom in build will blow your mind. Your options are endless and you can change your char almost any time out of combat. The background parts of this game is made for hardcore players. Easy to learn, hard to master. If you are sick of easy mode MMOs, this is your game. If you want a generic can play with a mouse in one hand and a coffee in the other. Move on. Any questions?

I guess it depends on what you mean by WoW clone.  Content wise its a quest base themepark and visually its similar to WoW (stylized with a vibrant color palet).  Many of the devs are former wow devs so its not surprising.

Combat is action based, think GW2 but with the trinity.   recognizing attack patters becomes increasingly important as you level up.  All attacks are aoes with different patters (lines, cones, circles, ect)

You have a limited action set, 8 abilities that you can freely switch between when out of combat, and it is encouraged that you do, since 1 set wont fit all circumstances.  I think you can have 4 saved at a time.

All classes can DPS + either heal or tank.

Typical 2 faction game.  PvP instances, pvp servers, also Warplots, which are customizable bases that guilds can build to face off against each other in 40v40 battles.

Housing is a core component in this game,  you can place crafting stations on your housing plot, teleports, resource nodes, and also, of course your house to decorate (yes its instanced on a floating platform in the sky)

Dungeons, supposedly fairly challenging, I havent gotten a chance to test.

20 + 40 man raids, with bosses that rotate (correct me if im wrong here)

Adventures, which are kinda like dungeons in that they are group instanced content, but they are much less linear, and act more like a zone scenerio

Its a game that doesnt take itself too seriously, lots of room for humor and wacky stuff happening

    check out some of these

So no open world PVP? That is a main factor for me for something I want in an MMO.

Things are very simple. In May there will be open beta and even more you ll have a 7 day trial (as friend invite) in launch, in order to see if the game fits you.

I can tell you about many things i like in this game, from combat to monthly content additions (they already stated that there is a 16 month content rdy to push it every month post launch), but i wont. I ll just tell you if you really like to see what's this game about try it.

In the contrary to other games that never gave an open beta or a trial, in WS you ll have them both before you buy the product :)

Has open world like WoW has open world. Just pick a PvP server.

If you've ever played a MMO, you'll find the game GENERIC at the very worst meaning.

I have played on 3 betas and every time I've wondered who the heck would PAY for this.

And I've paid for AoC, Aion, LoTRO, Rift, WAR, etc. Still I can't justify any payment to this game.

Some people say you should play to this and that level before you make a judgement, but I have enough experience to tell this game isn't worth the trust.

the best destription i heard was it was a "Scifi western, in space, that plays similar to WoW, with a watered down action combat system, with a skill system similar to Diablo 3"

I'd pay for this, and already have. The gameplay is solid, the combat is different but good, bosses will be a difficult challenge until you learn their skills and rotations and figuring out what would be the best skills to use during that fight if you fail. The game is well put together with features that most games dont have till way after release. The housing system, which i barely spent time with was well designed, highly customizable, and promotes making friends and playing with friends/guildmates.

Like it, don't like it. Play it, don't play it. Its for you, or its not for you. Its the best game of 2014, its not the best game of 2014. Try it out, and find out where you stand
