I'm going to buy the founders pack, but won't be in a position to play it for a while due to real life and work issues, was hoping to have it all downloaded on the pc ready to go before I spend the cash then I can jump right in.

No. Alpha is locked behind the Archeum Founders pack. Purchasing it reveals the link and gives you permission to download it. Be aware that Alpha access with the Archeum pack is limited. At some point they will REMOVE Alpha access.

The OP, ofc, is free to apply to Alpha like he would any other game and hope that he gets in.
I have met plenty of folks who are playing just on an invite.
But, ofc, being an alpha no free early entry is guaranteed for free. Same as it ever was.
