Before buying this game, I have got some questions.

ZukapeZukape Member UncommonPosts: 93

Hello guys,

I wanted to spend some money for starting a new MMO. So far ESO looks best decision for me... I'm okay with Theme Parks and there are my questions.

-Tomorrow will be buy game from a store, If I did bought standart edition am I will be lose a lot of things?

-I dont know what its called but is it a MMO like World of Warcraft or Diablo 3? I mean when you are playing are people have to join your server(Like Diablo 3, group system) or everybody are visible on one server?

-Since game released we past 1 months, is it too late?

-If I used wrong skill/stat points can I reset them easily?

-In how many days I can hit the max level. Generally I'll play 10 hours per day.

-When killing people are we earning something like pvp/honor points for gear?

-What about leaderboard system? Is it compared to pvp points?

-When I killed by another faction am I losing anything?

-Is there achievement leaderboard too?

-Last question is, getting better gears are depends crafting or raids?

Before starting I want to know those things, maybe sounds like stupid but I dont want to spend my first months with doing things wrong and thank you for answers.

You will miss basically one thing: A horse. Horses in game are expensive and usually you can't get one till later levels (like 25-30). If you want to pvp at earlier levels, horse is kinda mandatory.

-I dont know what its called but is it a MMO like World of Warcraft or Diablo 3? I mean when you are playing are people have to join your server(Like Diablo 3, group system) or everybody are visible on one server?

There is one server only and everybody plays there. But everybody is not "visible". Usually you won't be seeing your group members and/or friends because of the phasing system. (This will be corrected in a future patch i think.)

-Since game released we past 1 months, is it too late?

    Of course not.

-If I used wrong skill/stat points can I reset them easily?

Yes. But it costs a lot of money.

-In how many days I can hit the max level. Generally I'll play 10 hours per day.

Not sure. Some people did it in one week but they skipped a lot of content. Right now there is not much to do in max level so don't hurry.

-When killing people are we earning something like pvp/honor points for gear?

Yes. If i am not mistaken, they are called Alliance points (i didn't tried pvp that much). But you don't use them for gear. Ypu use them for siege equipment.

-What about leaderboard system? Is it compared to pvp points?

Yes. Basically person with the most Alliance points is number one. (Correct me if i am mistaken.)

-When I killed by another faction am I losing anything?

    Err.. Your pride?

    -Is there achievement leaderboard too?

    No.

-Last question is, getting better gears are depends crafting or raids?

There are no raids right now in the game. There will be one in a week or so but it is not a usual raid. More like a big map with quests & bosses in it. So crafting will give you better items. (Correct me if i am mistaken.)

Stages of a new mmo: 1) It's just beta. It still has plenty of time before release. 2) It just launched. Give it time. WoW wasn't built in a day. 3) We don't need you anyway. 4) F2P announced. 5)Huge influx of players. 6) Look how much has changed. 7) Cash shop is the only thing developed lately. 8) It has been a long journey and we thank everyone who was part of it. Shutting down in 3 months. (Courtesy of Robokapp.)

    • Not really. Biggest "loss" would be the ability to be an "Imperial". At your play rate you will generate lots of money so nothing else really.

-I dont know what its called but is it a MMO like World of Warcraft or Diablo 3? I mean when you are playing are people have to join your server(Like Diablo 3, group system) or everybody are visible on one server?

    • Sort of. Just one server and there have been / are issues interacting with others. Some have complained about it having to much of a solo feel. Opinions vary though.

-Since game released we past 1 months, is it too late?

    • Yes and no. In one sense not at all - you can solo it all so .... the issue is with the PvP side. There are currently 10 campaigns (5 EU and 5 NA). People "sign up" for a campaign; with each campaign being c. 2,000 people split between three factions. Each faction competes to crown an Emperor / Empress. first Empress was crowned on the 2nd day. Some people who wanted to - seriously - PvP went at things full throttle and some of those were unhappy that the campaigns were empty. Some of these have stated that they have left - so having missed the first month that may be an issue. However the counter was that the slower people had not yet hit 50 and above and so things would fill up. Will those coming in replace those who leave .... not at the moment. Campaigns are due to reset after 3 months - so one option would be to wait until they do.

-If I used wrong skill/stat points can I reset them easily?

    • Just needs in-game money. Which you can make once you level up so no problem.

-In how many days I can hit the max level. Generally I'll play 10 hours per day.

    • You pick one of three sides; then level to 50 through your choice of: quests, mob grind and some sundry other stuff like exploration. First character to 50 took 17 hours - in a well organised guild using AoE on mobs. Others have got to 50 just through quests which took longer but - depending on bugs encountered - took 2-3 days. It depends of course on how much people play of course.
    • Having got to level 50 you then do the second and then the third factions quests to get to Veteran Rank (VR) 5 after the second faction and VR10 after the third faction. Technically you can gain xp from killing e.g. mobs - and in the upcoming patch this is set to more than double - but basically after level 50 the only viable way to level is via quests. You can gain a bit of xp by killing mobs but not much; you will however be able to gain lots of money. Mobs are a bit tougher but in simple terms it will take you another few days to get to VR5 and another few to get to VR10. Again people who play less take longer.
    • Do you need to be VR10 to PvP. Technically no you can PvP from level 10! In reality though you really need to be 50 and above; VR2 maybe. Not a simple equation because there are several factors but VR10 is .. say 150% more powerful than VR1. Skill of course is a factor - or the size of the zerg!
    • The new patch will increase the level cap to VR12.

-When killing people are we earning something like pvp/honor points for gear?

    • Not really. You fight for your faction against the other two factions basically.

-What about leaderboard system? Is it compared to pvp points?

    • Not really. You do get "points" but they are not "personal".

-When I killed by another faction am I losing anything?

    • No.

    -Is there achievement leaderboard too?

    • Not really. The bif thing is that whilst it I s

-Last question is, getting better gears are depends crafting or raids?

    • Drops basically. I don't think there are "raids" in the sense you mean.

Before starting I want to know those things, maybe sounds like stupid but I dont want to spend my first months with doing things wrong and thank you for answers.

If you intend / plan to play 10 hours a day then you will a) level very fast b) make any and all money you need for anything you want to buy very quickly.

If you haven't played Skyrim then I seriously suggest that you buy it instead - the Legendary edition that includes the 3 expansions. This has lots and lots of the same time of content - even at 10 hours a day it will keep you going a month. You will get a much better feel for what Elder Scrolls is trying to do. If Skyrim bores you - TESO is probably not for you. If you really like Skyrim you may be able to look past some of its flaws. You can pick it up very cheaply as well.

CE is really just for a horse which is buyable from stables for a lot of gold and Imperial Style for crafting, but can be found in game in lower level areas and sell for 1/4 the cost of a horse.

You can obtain pretty much anything you would "need" from the CE, by purchasing it with in game gold.

That said,  I think you should figure out what kind of MMO you like first,  I'd recommend all my favorite games.  Both FFXIV and ESO have the best rpg in them, but watch out with FFXIV, its a real grind, and I'm not talking American game type grind, I'm talking Korean game style grinds for gil to buy stuff and obtaining gear with tomestones in that game.

A little hint If you get the standard edition ( Recommended ).

The only thing of value is you don't get a mount. HOWEVER at least for me it was not a real big deal anyway, as you open up so many wayshrines that you don't even need one unless you plan on doing PvP right from the beginning.  Even then you will be killed fast anyway.

What I would do, unless someone else has better suggestions :

First mount cost 17200 Gold, This is a lot in the beginning. I made the mistake of repairing my armor. THIS IS VERY EXPENSIVE. Don't do it !  Craft new ones.  White low level stuff is extreamly easy to craft, you don't even need to put any points into crafting at low levels. You can also farm open public dungeons, as their is one every two levels, you can sell this stuff and equip the things you can use ( lots of greens )......even to the point that you would never even have to craft at all.

Like I say a mount is over rated anyway, unless you insist on PvPing early.

Bag and bank space is very expensive also. I would suggest getting your mount first, unless your planning on crafting all professions.....You can buy them later.

Diablo 3 is not a MMO. It saddens me that we have come to time when what D3 offers could be considered in the same breath as EQ, AC, DAOC, CoX, Lotro and the rest.

I hope the OP finds what he is looking for.
