The latest video Developer Diary for EverQuest Next and Landmark has been released. In the new video, the team discusses how lore of the earlier series titles are being brought into the newer games. It's an interesting look at how lore is crafted. Give it a viewing and let us know what you think!

I was so excited for this game. However, my hype completely vanished after playing ArcheAge. AA seems to have everything that I've been looking for in a MMO.

If I'm going to be excited for EQN, it's going to have to bring the largest MMO world ever created, where players can plop down their own cities anywhere and everywhere etc.

Sure you may be able to do all what you dream of, but think of this, other players will be able to do what they dream of. Kill you and take or destroy everything you have.

    Sounds like fun.

I'm intrigued by AA but very much looking forward to EQN. I really want to see how storybricks works within the game.... hopefully this August they will have some cool stuff to show us.

EQ1 was my first MMO and I really got into the lore of that game. Here's hoping EQN lives up to some good lore, the video shows a good start to where they need to go.

The eBooks reveal a lot of legitimate timeline stories.  I find myself getting immersed into the new lore already, which is super frustrating, given the game isn't going to be out for a good while.

They seem to be putting a lot of resources and effort into crafting the lore for this game.  I think 9 eBooks are currently released with content in ages or eras somewhat slightly before the age of heroes (where the players begin).  They're all decent reads and for a long-time EQ veteran, it's nice to absorb some of the newly structured pantheon, locales, name changes, and characters who shaped the EQN timeline.

They have to. Both EQ1 and EQ2 had great lore! It was the core strength of both games and hence, why they still run today.

The expectations for EQN are high! So they have to at least deliver on that front.

Listening to them speak, it's like they are building this huge, beautiful and intricate living crystalline entity of a game.......

... And I just get the feeling that the Trolls, PowerGamers, Griefers and MetaGamers are going to come in and wreck the game in every way they can think of.

Since some people, operate under the mentality that "They bought the game, they own the game - it's their game - and they can play it however they want"

Even if that means playing the game in such a way that it totally goes against what was intended and ruins the experience for everyone else.. As they go about exploiting the game engine and trying to spoil everything.

"It's like a finger pointing away to the moon... Don't concentrate on the finger or you'll miss all the heavenly glory" (Bruce Lee)

(Insert your favourite mmo here): ......And behold, a pale horse.... And a million hellishly bad mmos followed with it.
