::rolls her eyes:: I truly find it hard to believe the SOE takes this game back to alpha pahse basically and people happily accept it and throw their money at SOE/LA. Call me a jaded gamer, but after playing these games for so many years there comes a time when you have to stand up and say enough is enough. It seems some players haven't reached that point yet, despite the fact that they have been duped time and time again by these gaming companies.

How do I know this. I just read a thread on the official forums regarding Entertainers and I was dumb founded. First it proves this game is back in alpha stage and that SOE/LA is clueless as to where they are taking this game. Second, it also proves that once again SOE/LA has decided that certain classes get put on the back burner repeatedly, just as they have always done in the past, so that they can focus on two or three professions and neglect the rest.

First read this response from Thunderheart regarding Entertainers. Then read on why I say it is the same old same old once again with SOE/LA.

I realise that the publish itself isn't due for a while but here you stated you'd have the details by early January. I think the ents would rather know those details now so they have something to look forward to then wait until after publish 27 to be told. Any news?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That is an old post. Publish 27 has been delayed so we could polish up the features some more.

And TH has confirmed that the Pub 28 will have the ent publish. But no details yet. Hope he can tell us soon.

I did say that it was confirmed that is was planned for Pub 28, but I have to update everyone. I'm working on another community update which I hope will have some news on this front (I don't know yet though. I am researching to find out the latest info over the next couple of days.)

Nothing about any details being provided, despite the fact that we should be in the know about what they were going to do, why they decided not to, and what they are doing to fix it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So there is a fair amount of assumption here. Talking about what we "were" going to do before we even start the communication is getting the cart before the horse.

I raised the community issues with the team and they are looking at things. "Looking at things" means "pre-design document". When the design doc is ready, we'll talk about it. Also "pre-concept" means people are having meetings, looking at technical and design details and other things.

Folks here are working on live issues and Publish 27. The next thing we'll see are updates with fixes. The next big thing we'll see is Pub 27 going to Test Center.

Pub 27 will go to Test Center and we'll be reading the community feedback.

That doesn't make any sense though - read the link. Details about 28 were promised in the new year even though 27 would not be out till after then. That was even before the delay to 27. It was originally slotted for the 14th.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, we're talking to everyone a lot more. Because of that, dates, the stuff that goes into publishes and other details are going to change.

(And actually, Pub 27 was originally slotted for January 24th).

The reason they don't announce until they know 100% it's gonna be in the publish is because they say they have been flammed for saying stuff was going to be in, and then the patch comes and it's not. So they wait until it's 100% final before saying anything. Sucks, I'l like to see their most likely publish thread 2 or 3 months ahead of what currently is going in.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So we are changing that, but as a result, things can and will change.

We'll have the docs out soon and everyone will see them and the changes will go to Test Center long before it goes to Live.

Guys don't attack each other. Both of you are right for very different reasons.

The entertainer revamp obviously is being designed with some aim in mind. That aim is what we want to know. In order to design and code something, you first need a concept to work on - the players do not know what that concept is. The devs must have one - they don't just make it up on the spot the day before the publish goes live and code in a single night.

To say 'no information yet' is BS, to be honest. There is something we aren't being told and there is no logical reason for it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

coldreboot, there is some good stuff here and maybe some not-so-good stuff:

Don't attack each other? Great stuff!

The no information is BS? Not so great. We are pre-concept. We hope to have something to you soon, but in general, to improve features, community and communication means that this whole process is going to take longer. That means periods of "no news yet". I say "there is no news" to give everyone feedback. I get questions asked over and over so I answer them, but in reality, development of this stuff is just going to take some time.

Asking, "What will the Entertainers primary function be in this game, and how will they be played?" - Great stuff! It's a great topic.

Do you want to know why I say this? Because according to Smedley and the rest of the higher mucky-mucks at SOE/LA the reason that they supposedly removed the 32 different professions and made 9 "iconic" ones to begin with was so that it would be easier and less taxing on the developers to fix "all" the professions because it meant that they could concentrate on fixing "all" 9 much easier instead of 32. Guess what - BS. Total BS.

Want to see what publish 27 is all about? The same thing we saw for the last 2.5+ years!

Publish 27 features:

Heavy Weapons
Spy and Stealth Enhancements
Jedi Profession Changes

There you go. That is it. What about the other professions SOE? What about Traders? What about Entertainers? What about all the other professions that you are right back to neglecting - once again and once again Jedi get center stage - amazing.

Amazing...truly amazing that people will galdly pay this company to have that company go back on their word time and time again and still be making promises of what is to come, hold out their hand and players say..."here you go SOE/LA - here is my money. I'm ready for more BS!"

But hey...it is your money. ::strolls away remembering an old saying:: ...a fool and their money are soon parted... LOL!

This same rant has been played for over 2 years now...

I'm sorry but why are you still interested?

Maybe because I played the game for 2.5+ years and feel that SOE lied, cheated and decieved me and now I am making other gamers aware of teh kind of game company SOE really is and that they haven't changed one bit - even though they say they have.

You don't like it - tough.

How do you know when SOE is lying… When they say something.

I agree with Teala, SOE/LA is concentrating too much to Jedi and Bounty Hunter. They are forgotting too often other professions and other features of game.

I agree with you totally Hardcore Member.  Even though I had created one of the first Jedi on Chilastra, I was appalled over the following months how such a small minority of players truly controlled the games development as SOE pushed publish after publish for Jedi.  I dispatched mine and never played it again.  I watched too much BS from SOE to even care much at this point. I will say I have chosen to not play / pay SOE again.  That much is certain.  As for Sony products, they wont be included in any choices from this point forward.  Sayonara Sony.

Nothing to add to the conversation, just had to say that I ROFL'd bigtime at that pic....

From the time I started playing SWG.  I have known of 3 really DIE HARD SOE supporters, Dwiggz, coldreboot and City_Hall.   If you doubt me, please take a look at the tracker for these people and take a sample of some of their posts.  Dwiggz left out of disgust with the NGE, City_Hall has been really quiet and now coldreboot is starting to show signs of wear and disgust against SOE's antics.  When people like them abandon the game they have fought to defend so vehemently, this game is in trouble!

SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!

Funny thing though i know alot of wind was knocked out folks sales that were waiting for what they would do January. I truely do not think soe had a clue how many people were hoping for some active hotfixes this month to the basic unplayble features currently on the servers.

When they saw very little forth coming i think those that were watching to see what was gonna happen just this week made the decision enough already. What i do not get is why they thought the team had a plan an idea of where the game was going or a road map.

It is clear they ( soe was waiting on sales figures) but with so many of the new folks reaching that 30 level mark discovering in order to level reasonably well they have to buy the expansions some of those folks already left as well.
