I'm considering purchasing the alpha pack. I'm mildly interested in the perks, mostly interested in playing now. I was wondering if anyone knew the beta and release dates if there are any yet.
I guess I can also ask those who bought it, any regrets?
Initial development of ArcheAge began in 2006, and closed testing of the game took place over two years. Before finally being released in Korea on January 15, 2013, the game went through five closed beta tests and one open beta test.[2] In 2012, an XL Games studio representative said he expected ArcheAge to be released in North America at the end of 2013 or beginning of 2014.[3] Also, in 2014 a newly hired CM has stated the game will be transitioning into beta phase and will release for NA and EU in 2014.[4] Announcements made in April, indicate the launch of the beta phase for June 2014.[5] On April 24, 2014, Trion begun to offer founder packs, for early alpha and beta access.[6]

The number of things you can do in AA I know I wont hate it. I paid for collectors edition of Age of Conan and I didn't really regret it. It lasted me and my friends for 6months. I think I'll be in AA for quite a while.
With about a month till beta, I think the perks will be what drives me. That means I'm paying mmmm $50 for a cloak and creating an emblem and 1 month of extra play time .. I'll probably do it.
It is worth keeping in mind that beta will be only weekend events. When beta is on the alpha server will be shutdown for that weekend but then it will come backup when that beta event ends. So getting the Archeum pack will buy you quite a lot of game time between now and release. On top of that you will get 3 months of patron and $75 worth of cash shop credit. If you are confident that you will play at release and you are willing to pre purchase those items then the alpha continuous access for the next several months is really only costing you about $30 which I think is a ridiculous bargain for a game that has been in release in Asia for over a year. That is, it doesn't play like an alpha. It is very polished game already.
For myself, I have a list of games I would like to play but I just can't seem to play anything but AA right now. I am very pleased with the purchase.

AA has a very old school feel which I personally like and others do not. The combat can be a tad clunky at times but is still very fun and the 'choose your own class' combo makes it a lot more engaging than most. Combine that with the group dynamic and pvp begins to open up a lot.
The PvE aspect is very lacking. Dungeons are very basic. The encounters are very straight forward with no tricky mechanics you find in just about any PvE games (EQ, WoW, Rift etc,.) Basically all the PvE stuff is completely secondary to the game which is very much PvE oriented.
What I find myself comparing this to in a lot of ways is Pirates of the Burning Sea. That is simply because the economy model is huge and intertwined. You want to build a house? You need 300 stone (from mining) and 600 wood (from chopping trees) not counting the guilda stars (a type of currency you get from trade runs) for the blueprints. After a few days of play, you will have a large and a small farm which can hold 20 trees between them and a few dozen small plants such as cotton. The trees take roughly 7ish hours to mature. (others mature faster or slower depending on type and climate of the zone) and give 6 - 8 logs each. Take the time investment into account and now throw in TONS and TONS of other stuff to craft and trade and you might begin to get an idea of how crazy complex it is.
Leveling is easy. In that aspect, it is the most non-Asain Asain MMO out there. Instead, they put all the grindy stuff into the crafting and economy.
That leads to the next part: Gear (again.. from crafting) is a big factor in PvP. The difference between levels is not as skewed as most others out there. A lvl 44 with good gear can kill a lvl 50 in poor gear. (personal skill aside of course) In order to do well.. it will take a commitment which is one of the things I like about it.
Is it Pay to Win? With the fact that all crafting utilizes Labor Points which regenerate over time, the regeneration of that labor pool is very important to anyone interested in participating in the economy. Paid subscription accounts will generate labor faster, but even free to play players can wear the same armor and have access to the same skills as a paid player. I see free players looking to paid account players for gear by farming and paying for goods. I think there is also a way in the works to introduce the ability to sell an in game currency to pay for premium access (much how Sony did with EQ) Take that as you will but I think it is a very fine balance that Trion looking to have. I think it will work well.

If that stuff doesnt bother you, you will love AA
Even if it does bother you may still like the overall package
