Story immersion

Lord.BachusLord.Bachus Member RarePosts: 9,686

I am loving this, how every quest feels like a little story book on itselves, and immesing me intoo the world..  I just arived in Coldharbour, and just love the great stories there. Al themed around an even bigger story ....

And thats how i will continue till VR10, finding all those little stories the world has to tell.... many of them are just as interesting as the big overhauling stories...

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Considering how many threads you've started to praise ESO, most frequent people here know you like the game :)

Does it really need a new thread?

EDIT: or at least put a bit more effort in the original post.

It's quite immersive but not as much as in TSW imho. Also, when I first listened to every quest VO then I soon found myself drowning in info which was mostly useless. I just unlocked veteran content and cannot decide whether to continue with my main or roll an alt because I don't feel like grinding the same quests twice.

I was immersed in the story for about half of the first zone.  I quickly lost interest in the plights of every helpless citizen as the quests started to feel very generic and bland.  The main story quests were what kept me going through the second zone, but by the time I got to the third, it was just too much of a grind for me.  The lore and freedom of Elder Scrolls was lost in their attempt to make a MMO out of it.

I recently started a quest to free up 30GB on my hard drive.  ESO did not uninstall itself and left the entire Zenimax folder in the Program Files directory.  It didn't take long for me to solve the puzzle and get my quest reward.

Are you saying ESO immerses you even when you're uninstalling it?

Big rage incomming so brace yourself.
I liked my time spend to level 50 !
Defeating the final encounter as a vampire made this extra delicious as the titans 1 shot your behind and made it 10 times more harder then it already was.

Now you defeated the baddass mofo and you my champion are ready for Cyrodiil !

    Not.......by a long shot......

You now are gimped to oblivion as your stats do not increase but the enemy's in the lowby other faction zones you need to go trough are that more powerfull making the leveling expirience not only harder but alot more frustrated as most of us wanted to do pvp or at least i wanted to be on par with anyone else on the battlefield.

You have to go trough the 2 other factions that requires you to collect millions and millions and many more millions worth of veteran points.
Mobs dont give that much so you are forced to quest trough all of it....

You basicly completed 30% of the game when you dinged 50, but in reality the other factions are more harder and time consuming so your looking at one bitch of exp needed to grind trough it.

I can say that this is going to be a breaking point for many players.....
I saved Tamriel but now i am forced to slash trough 2 other factions with no other way to do quests.....
Have fun with that while you just wanted to have fun in pvp....

Dare i say that the veteran zones are going to cost Zenimax a massive amount of subs.
There is already a exodus going on wether you believe it or not.
And even tough i loved my way to 50 i cant stand going trough 2 other factions in a row.
Last month we had around 5 full campaings going in Cyrodiil at prime time.
    This is reduced to 1.......
    Thats around 2000 players.....for Europe.....

I say again that i loved my way to 50, but my enjoyment is comming to an end and i hate every minute spend in veteran zones and i am about to quit ESO due to this lazy design.

And to top this off Veteran rank 12 is comming to you this month.

If you have fun questing all the way to V10 then bravo +10 and kuddo's to you my friend :)
But for many of us this whas not what we signed up for......

This mmo is already bleeding subs and it might go down even faster then SWTOR did if they do not change Veteran grind.

I can be wrong offcourse !!!
But looking at the population drops in Cyrodiil after the "free" month says that its already happening.

And i fully agree with the people who unsub frustrated by Zenimax lazy design choice...

At the rate I play mmo's today, I don't even think I need to worry about the next 2 faction area's for now. As the OP stated, the game has a great immersion factor in which I look for in mmo's and most mmo's fail in this category. PvP is fun, but PvP is nothing more of a grind itself in todays games.

I knew going into eso it wasn't a sandbox mmo, so I personally should be good, especially when you knew they were porting the game to consoles, that should be the no brainer about how pvp was going to be in this game.

I've still yet to come across a mmo today that makes pvp priority over pve content and be successful to the masses.

The game is boring. The design of the zones I have seen look too generic. Nothing as exciting as stuff you see in the singleplayer games.

The quests are fun for a while but after 1-2 zones they start to repeat themselves and feel like "yet another peasant needs your help for trivial things". The main storyline is once every 5 levels which is annoying, very akin to GW2. It would be nice if we have the main storyline going on all the time.

Certainly when you compare this game to truly immersive games like the Witcher 1/2, it feels generic and bland. No real character development but that's too be expected from MMOs. They are all one dimensional with 0 choices in your quests and 0 character development.

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

Go play the Wildstar open beta and compare the flashy animation and unsettled gameplay style, overloaded UI, blend and boring questing and a game world without immersion. You will get shocked after you played ESO for a while and actually feel and understand what this game really offers to you.

I agree that ESO is more immersive than Wildstar.

Wildstar isn't trying to be immersive. It's pretty apparent that it reminds you at every corner that you're playing a game.

As for your other pointers, I found ESO questing a lot more boring and less varied  than Wildstar. Animations are fluid and the UI isn't overloaded.... well maybe if you compare it to ESO it is... but ESO has a very minimalistic primitive UI theme going on.

I have to agree, the game has a lot of charm.  Better yet, I actually find I can play this game at my own pace instead of that "rush rush rush to endgame" feeling I get when playing most theme park MMOs. It's nice to be able to play in a "just one more quest" sort of way and  just leisurely enjoy the experience.

I agree, but ESO is like the last MMO I'd ever want to pay a sub for.

I'm only level 8 so far, and I'm really enjoying my time in ESO, but i want to play like a hour a day, maybe even a hour every 2 days or so.

I have absolutely no desire to play ESO for extensive amounts at a time, which makes it quite frustrating that i have to pay for it monthly, I've already canceled by Subscription, but if it ever goes free I'll be back.

The quests are fun and immersive to me, this is probably the only MMO I've ever read / listened to quests in, but It's just not something thats fun for hours on end.

    Completely agree with this post.

I loved getting to 50 but since then i am forcing myself to log in and didn't realise what the vet ranks entailed until i got there.

How it in i only see the really hardcore or ultimate fan boys getting to VR10 before they burn out.

The best quest lines are the main story and the fighter's, mage's guild which you have now completed, so you are left with the rest to level up.

I've gotten my monies worth but i have no desire to do what feels like starting over again from scratch.

I didn't mind them leveling to 50 but for whatever reason i feel like i am starting over now i have moved onto a new faction and its just not doing it for me.

I can honestly say i have never lost my motivation to play a game so quick as when i hit vr1.
