Couldn't even get Beta game to run

mark2123mark2123 Member UncommonPosts: 450

Well done to all those people that managed to get a few hours on the Wildstar beta.  I downloaded it and it wouldn'r run.

There's a long thread on the official forums of people complaining about the same issue, but there's no response of solution.  Much as I hoped to be trying and possibly buying it, if the game won't run on either of my machines (both a new and pretty meaty), then what hope is there?

Even some ideas from the support guys would have been useful.

Running fine here on an older system, gtx 460 SE, windows 8 only 4gb memory.  Obviously hard to tell you what the problem is on your pc, but thats not what you are asking/venting about.

Try checking all usual stuff, firewall, memory usage, cpu, processes.  anything corrupt (probably the case since everyone is using windows)  try removing appdata config settings, and if all else fails uninstall and remove app setting and reinstall with firewall down.

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

Sounds like a classic case of the PEBKAC error.

Crashed/locked up the first couple of times I tried to interact with an item/player.  Next day I logged back in and played around for an hour.  Issues as expected with such a game.  Don't think I will be playing but hope they get most of the bugs ironed out so release isn't another Beta test like so many MMO's are at launch.

I downloaded it on 2 computers and my wife and I have played without any problems using computers that are a few years old.

    Sorry you are having problems.

    Right-click, Run as Administrator

So simple that I'm shocked that people miss this step.   It literally boggles the mind!

Did you actually post in the support forum and tell them your specs and the error that happens? Not every situation is the same and players can even help solve issues when the support guys aren't answering.

I loaded the very first beta and they had a problem but showed how to make the launcher run as a administrator.

loaded it again after a view moths and had no problems, but not going to buy or play even when it goes free.

average game with pretty looks, need new innovations in mmos -warhammer and EQN maybe also shards and shroud.

best mmo now dark souls 2.

Really? The internetsss are littered with ideas on how to fix your problems with the Wildstar beta, including a lot of info from the support guys.

You really are in the minority if you didn't manage to make it work at all.

I've played almost every beta and everyday in open beta with no issues (just minor bugs like hovering NPCs here and there)

    No FPS problems either.

Basically the OP should blame himself for not having enough knowledge to pinpoint where the problem exactly resides.... possibly hardware/driver related on a build it your self PC?

Get a console when you have no grab about PC hardware and operating systems.., things allways run fine on a console (well ment advice)

Stop blaiming the developers for these kinds of problems, its to be expected since most people treat even their garbage cans better then their PC´s OS....    PC´s require proper administration and a lot of maintenance to keep in shape...

I am sorry if this sounds very negative, but you cant blame the truth, can you?

To solve a computer related problem, developers do need more input then...... It does not run...

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
