You won't be able to place a farm. There are spots left on the northern continent, but getting there in a rowboat will take hours, assuming you survive, which you probably won't. and you wont b able to afford the teleport stones to go back and forth from the northern continent to where your quests are. I've stopped playing til they open up more farming spots, which they probably wont

WOWW really? I heard land spots are limited to 600 per territory, that means there's plenty of people paid 150$? Craaaaayyy.
You stopped playing because you can't make a farm? There are other things to do in the game you know.
It is absolutely not that bad. I have toons in all the races and while I have had to search a bit, I can always find spots to put down a farm. As a matter of fact I just put one down about 15 minutes ago.
Stop spreading bullshit, yes there are a lot of players, but it is not nearly as crowded as the whiners would have you believe.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

so let me get this right, you threw down £110 quite recently on a game that has NEVER denied there is limited land space, and now because you can't farm you are not playing ALPHA - What exactly is your point? its alpha you should be in game testing things, looking in different places, the fact is in about 4 weeks or so (personal guess about alpha ending) then everythin you have done will be wiped so what does it it matter????
And like the person above me there are plenty of farming places around, you just need to grow a pair and go find them, ok so they aren't in the safe spots, but guess what, I cannot build my 45 bed house in center of new york becuse there isn't the space.. its the same ingame -- Sorry but this just smacks of "its my ball and taking it home if i can't play up front"....
But fact, when the game is released the population will be spread and also only those who sub will be able to farm ,so come release im expecting to have more spots available.
and for record ive only ever had to search for about 20-30 minutes at most to find ANY SIZE of farm

But anyways, anyone worried could just wait until launch.Unless they overcrowd the servers that will solve it.
Yea its a good sign that It's very very hard to find protected land space right now, but it is there if you look long enough

I can't say there are no farm plots available but there are intro quests the steer you towards farming and require you to find ap lot. THEY ARE NOT EASY TO FIND. EVERY land area I went to was completely full. I looked for a hell of alot longer than "15 minutes".
So no, its not BS. The game is in alpha on a single server. Unless you're a level 40+ and have discovered new areas the plots are taken.

Bought into the alpha about an hour ago. After i finished the quest chain about farming and when you receive your own farm i was scared that i was not going to be able to find a spot because of this post. Seven minutes and 48 seconds (7:48). That's all it took, you either didn't look at the different spaces available to you (I'm guessing you went to the closest one they send you too as default).
On your map they show the spaces you can plot your farm. I'm located on Haranya / Arcum Iris with a few spots around me for free plots, If you need the space still, give me a shout in game.
A week ago, the situation for putting down a small farm was pretty bad. Large farms in the western territories were completely impossible to find. Now I've found it's gotten a tiny bit easier for small farms, but at least in the west it's nearly impossible still for large.
This has been discussed a lot. I think mostly it's an issue with the fact that everyone in Alpha right now is like a subscriber (ie. able to have land). And it's also that the alpha is very busy... lot's of people on that server. At release, it will be mixed up with a lot of non-land-owning F2P people, so hopefully it won't be quite as bad.

You can find places for Small farms, the larger farms very hard to find a spot.
People make alts snag them when they come open then sell them to make money.
Last large farm I tried to get there were nine people standing there at 2:45 am waiting to take it when it was demolished.
8 people left with no farm one guy got it I was not the one guy.
So I started saving money instead bought a farm for 50 gold, not really an ideal situation it would be pretty easy to make more land available.
The guy I bought it from had not even finished the farm so it cost him 3 gold to get the spot sold it to me for 50 gold. I was using three little farms up till then.
This will most likely not be a huge problem on release, EVERYONE is patron on the alpha server, when the land started getting short many many people made alts and poof all the land was gone.
I have had two friends sign up to alpha in the past couple days, they do not have the gold people that been playing for a month, no where to get a large farm.
Couple ways to fix this, make more land available, raise taxes a lot on second and third farms on the same account.
Well to be honest farming was one of their larger perks for playing AA. TO limit it so not everyone can have the equal chance to have one is kind of lame. Lot of space is being wasted by people plopping down farms, houses, and scarecrows in a not so organized way. They should open up more spots, there is a lot of land not being used for anything, at least the players can use it for farms and homes.
Raising live stock, planting crops, owning your own farm, having people work for you, these are some (not all) of the things that got me interested in AA. Large world, somewhat sandbox style games, jail system were others. But all in all, lot of the space is already filled up in the safe zones.
But might not be so bad once a good bit of servers open up.
No, just no. I dont want to be punished for having multiple buildings that I actually use over those that just use tham as place holders. As time goes on I plan to go heavy into crafting and farming, I dont want dinged for taking part in the business aspect over the pvp/pirate aspect.

I just went and grabbed a small farm for an alt this morning, it literally took me 3 minutes to find a spot in soleriezed ..
There are literally three small plots next to mine getting demolished later today, and 2 tomorrow. Also, I found 2 small splots in dewstone while looking for a large area to set. If you can't find small plots you arent looking. Hellswamp has some left I know it sucks to put it in that place but cmon.
What a load of bollocks, I can see people WTS 8x8, 16x16 etc farms in low level pve zones all the time.
You can also find farms to be demolished by running a bit around.
Or you can, as my wife and me, find open spots.
We found 3 8x8s in solzreed right next to each other.
