Thankfully they have already laid out the plans for the next year. They stopped updates, they convert to F2P for awhile. Then they turn over all the software to us so that we can run our own servers.
Plenty of people have been hoping and waiting for AC to release the server for this. I'm just hoping they're still around after this long, and that content modification is an option. There has been so much storyline over the years. If even a fraction of it is retained, it will make for many many sessions and near endless replay with all the different ways of specializing a character. Just maybe they'll have the option to go back to the initial magic system where everyone had to learn their spells through trial and error; that was truly cool when people would first discover a new spell.
Really excited by the prospect of private servers finally being available. Even if the graphics are crap compared to new stuff, the content if farking amazing and I love how much time and effort went into each quest in AC. Well worth playing again, and hopefully the functionality to do season changes in the world remains also.
I'd play AC1 again in a heartbeat if they updated the UI. Tried it again a few months back and just couldn't deal with how unintuitive and clunky it was.
Hopefully player run versions can / will include some UI updates.

Same. I can deal with the terrible graphics, but the UI has made the game nearly unplayable for me the few times I've tried to go back to this game.

Talk about an amazing thing for a company to do.
