Everybody Wants to Rule the World

The Ecstasy of Gold

I am looking forward to Season 4 but after reading the books I think they made way too many changes from the books that weren't needed.

There is no way to make a watchable series from going 100% from the books. There is too much exposition.

A lot of things is explained through a narrative in the books, that only works in TV series if it's shown in other ways through added scenes. I don't think it's as simple as writers exercising artistic freedom, just because.

Oh so the red wedding could only be explained in the tv series by adding the pregnant wife of Rob Stark getting stabbed to death with her baby in belly. Even though in the books Rob Starks wife wasn't even at the red wedding to be stabbed to death, nor even died for that matter or even was the made up character in the tv series. And that is one of several glaring examples.

You are correct I don't think it's as simple as writers exercising artistic freedom either but more for the shock value to get more "viewers".

Some times, what you expect from what is written on books does not actually reflects on what is shown in the movie or tv series. That is why I am not fond of any books. I only like them when they are made in movies. For me, it is actually better watching the story than reading it. Specially on the action or fighting part/scene.
