I preordered the Limited edition version. I already knew I would be buying the game on release so getting the bonus stuff is just icing on the cake. a lot of my friends have pre-ordered too. Plus pre-orders help them judge how many servers to have on opening day so they will not be overwhelmed all at once. Hopefully they will release the server names beforehand so that they don't have the same f'up that Blizzard did on opening day.

I've been beta testing for several months now and will be pre-ordering my game soon. If I'm going to be playing why not get the extra fluff that comes with the limited edition.  getting into the live servers ahead is a big plus for me aswell so i can reserve my name.

I have 4 friends from my current game that have already preordered so we could group together in their 10 day beta trial. nothing but good responses from them.

Sorry to sound like a newb, but pre-order always gets confusing in the final strokes.

I noticed that the DDO site was very careful to say .... be careful who you order you pre-order from to make sure you get what you want.

What is the significance of the vendors that send you a the key in advance (ebGames online) over the vendors whom you must pickup the box in the store (i.e BestBuy)?

Does one ensure you can play online the moment it opens even if the shipped package gets stuck in a freak snow storm as I roll my d20's gazing out the window? ::::19::

as i mentioned above had four friends preorder and of ther experiences most had a key in the box and had no problems (should not say no problems. one disk was corrupt so they had to download 1.6 gig ddo client) the other had to have his key emailed to him we planned a week in advance what day they would activate and he just made it in for the day we had planned and not without a lot stress of emailing backand forth to get the key emailed for the friday we had planned for. unfortunately I don't know who ordered from where. I think EB games was the easier one. but do'n't quote me on that.

Edit: obviously if you get the key mailed to you have to downlod the 1.5 client. and just to warn you there will probably be a one hour (if you have a fast cable connection) update to get you up to the current beta build which changes on a weekly bases.
