Eve onland?

Leland22Leland22 Member UncommonPosts: 3
I'm a huge fan of Eve but Space ships and such just doesn't make the game for me. I've been looking for a game that replicates the political maneuverings, player freedom, and massive battles. For people who have played the game would you say this is like a fantasy Eve?

In many ways you could say that.

a future patch will let you make your own factions !
For the time being there are 3 factions east / west / pirates
Alot of zones go trough war states where it can be ffa.
Open sea and northern contintent are like null sec.

Yet Eve Online still holds the crown for the ultimate sandbox while Archeage can be seen as a sandpark.

It can be a hard life and in NA/EU the lifeblood of the game - running tradepacks for Gilda stars ! can only be done intercontinental.
In Russia you can gain those by trading packs on the same continent, that will not be the case in our version !
Altough i heared some quest might have a 1/3 chanse of giving you a gilda star, i do not know that for 100%

Gilda stars is a currency to buy the cool stuff !
Ships / houses / submarines / mounts etc etc all cost Gildastars.
Easy to get in Russia, will be harder to get in US/EU :)

When on the oceans you get that same feeling you have when flying trough nullsec tough :)
The lawless nature and the feeling of "its happening any moment" rushing trough your veins ! :)
It currently mostly small scale / medium scale battles.
But once the game goes live and people make big guilds and conquer the North you will see fights breaking out for best farm spots and 100/100 instanced castle sieges.

Yes Castle sieges are instanced and gives both side 100 men to deploy.
This is a good thing or you see problems like 1100 versus 80 and 1 guild owning the whole game :P
    Grrr Goons.... ;)

The naval battles are what is the most excited tough......realy loving that !

    And to complete the list:

Ganking, Griefing, PK and even scamming other players is definitely allowed!

By Scapes (Community Manager): Yes. ArcheAge is a highly competitive PvP game and skullduggery will be a weapon of choice just as sharp as a sword and possibly even more potent.

Patch is still in the works and nothing is 100% firm yet but last official word was gilda stars will be given for dailies ( 100% chance), storyline quests (100% chance) and  intercontinental trade routes which would give a choice of gold or gilda stars. Trion and XL.

    I miss DAoC

ArcheAge is more of a sandbox light.

No item decay, no regional markets, problematic ingame economy(demand could be saturated on one point, and it depends more on rng high lvl stuff crafting.. and not about item decay/destruction like EvE). Trading more of a mini game than anything else... (real trading is over a global AH.. WoW like)

What is true for Economy.. is true for death penalty as well.. there is more or less no death penalty in ArcheAge.

And the Territorial Warfare on the Northern Continent is at the moment not really existent.. it remains to be seenn what XLGames will add in the future to make it work.

It is a lot more casual than EvE. It is a Sandpark. Though.. the possibilities what you can do in ArcheAge are immense.. just the depth and longevity is clearly not EvE level. So a lot more EvE light with casual entry on Land/Sea and in Fantasy.

Edit: It is still the best choice at the moment, if you want something like EvE in a Fantasy Setting.

For your economy topic id like to point out the comparison between WoW's economy to Darkfalls economy. Once you look at these two games and how their economy works, then you will see how i dont believe decay or destruction really play a huge role in economy. But more on Demand and supply, and the ability to acquire the trade goods.

And lastly "Edit: It is still the best choice at the moment, if you want something like EvE in a Fantasy Setting."

Eve in a a 3rd person rpg, land/sea, doesnt matter if its fantasy or sci-fi for me. Just EvE without its boring space scenery and dull parts is amazing for me, thats all iv ever asked for. its like Eve meets Sword art online (kinda).
