Grouping

ZoharZohar Member Posts: 673

I'm an level 10 Red mage from Bastok on the Caitsith server. For some reason I cannot find a group period. Everytime I try either I won't find anyone, no one answers my tells, people join and then drop out before we get to our spot, or simply no one wants too. Is it because I'm level 10 and people can still solo? Is there a certain place I should be going too to find a group? I appreciate any feedback, it's quite frustrating never being able to find a group. (I also know I can solo at this level but I want to group).

Well, that depends on where you are. If you're in San d'Oria go to Ghelbasa or La Theine.

I'm in Bastok, Gustburg to be more exact. I went to Wadi and managed to get a group with some random people. They were nice guys, the exp wasn't too good but we had some fun. I wish I could get into more groups, this was the first one I've gotten into really (except for one or two partnerships), no one else seems interested =)

Do a /sea WHM, /sea 15-16 /sea Dangruff Wadi, /sea Elvaan, /sea area, etc. Blue names are party leaders, yellow names are group members, and white names are solos. Try and form your own party. The level range is kinda narrow. A level range of 2 is usually what people try to go for, but 3 is still ok. Fight some Goblins in Wadi.

Out of curiosity Samusic, does the level range ever increase?

The level range thing is quickly becoming my number one complaint about this game.  I have some friends that play so finding a group is not a problem for me, however I have gotten a few levels above some of them and those 3 or 4 levels are making it no fun for them to group since they get next to nothing for exp.

I was really hoping that the range would increase like it does in EQ so this is dissapointing to hear.  Oh well I guess, we are still loving the game so I doubt this will stop us but it would be nice if they had thought it through a bit more.

Look at the situation from their view.  Would you want your users to power-level someone so fast they they're able to get accounts and sell them on E-bay like they did in EverQuest/Earth and Beyond.  If I were a gaming company I would look at it from that view, stopping the huge difference yet keeping an open door for those that want to party together. image

In my point of view, I think it's good that way.

Well I would agree only in part, a huge range would make no sense and lead to power leveling like you say.  However currently the grouping window is much to small and leads to problems for the players and is unessecarily restrictive.

Hurting your desire to group is not a good thing in a mmorpg.

From what I have read most players agree with this view.  I have not played the game so I will not and can not make my own decision on this.  Though, if it becomes such a problem why not e-mail the company, I'm sure if enough people got together and wrote a statement about this they would consider changing it.  After all, you are paying for their services.

I do agree that they should gradully expand the range. Maybe like this:

Levels 1-15: Level Range of 2 (All members within two levels of each other)

Levels 16-25: Level Range of 3

Levels 25-40: Level Range of 4

Levels 41-60: Level Range of 5

    Levels 61-70: Level Range 6

They're already banning players for trying to sell accounts on eBay.
