I thought you all would like to see a few "YES" or "NO" polls posted on various sites concerning DDO. It's quite interesting to see the differences depending on where the poll was created. Have a look and feel free to have your say:

And for the heck of it, let's do one here!

Looks like the ones the poll with most "yeses" is the the one that has all the people that want to like the game i.e. the DnD board subscribers.
The VN poll clearly shows that it has a lot of trolls visiting their board bause the number of people disinterested in the game is so high.
And what does the 50/50 say?
I think this post only goes to show that most of the payers that have played it voted yes. while those who have not, or have for a very short time. vote no and just play off the negative hype concerning instances and the completely mis construed Ken Troop quote about random elements.
I've been in beta for several months now and will be in the live release aswell. very addivtive game play. great game.
I will buy it, whatever the review and the preview and the bad design decisions are.
Will I play it long, that is another question althogether.
Falcon: You are right, the board doesn't reflect the average player. The average player doesn't care about such stuff, he play than quit. However a vast majority of the raiders troll those boards which give the feeling they are more numerous than actually is the case. Same apply to a few others categories. A soloer won't come chat on an online forum, forget it he solo, he can't care less about what folks says or do on a forum. Soloers are prolly the vast majority of the market, groupers (which I am) consists prolly the second biggest group. Here, at MMORPG.com, you have a majority of PvPers, that doesn't represent the market at all.

You can say that experienced mmorers and such will be here but I'd also say that the poll would be sided towards DD0ers since who is gonna read this forum unless they are interested in DD0?
Even with that stacked up for the game it's still losing.

I've been playing this game for 2 days now and from what I've seen there are some good things and some bad things. I think the leveling is fine, the stats and the character sheet are what they should be for a DnD game. The combat is alright, not the typical - point click, stack ect. but not exactly mortal combat either. There is some thinking involved with the blocking, dodging ect.
When I hear people complaining about the "forced grouping" and whatnot I think it's rather funny because you're playing a game based on the original PnP DnD and if any of you have any remote knowledge on the subject you should know that a DnD game is going to be dungeon oriented and very quest/grouping centric. It's not a typical "cookie cutter" MMORPG like WoW so what are you expecting?
There's no PvP which is a bummer but makes absolute sense based on the genre, and to be honest there's absolutely nothing to do beyond the questing/grouping. This is partly why it's very hard to make a DnD MMORPG and to be honest while I think that the game has much potential based on the genre alone, it simply has no longevity whatsoever. I personally wouldn't pay a monthly fee for this, not because I think poorly of the game but because the game has so little longevity to it. Eventually the quests are going to grow stale or you'll max out your character get bored. And maybe I'm wrong but having played MMORPGs for a long time, that would be my analysis of this game. Good ideas, nice concept and killer genre but zero longevity.
I think you're seeing what you want to see. I've made it very far into the game, and still hate it.
The only reason I've gone so long, is: I like to beta test, I promised some people I'd give it a fair shake, and I CANNOT WAIT to go back, necro all my old posts and say HA! I TOLD YOU SO!!!
These people really don't know how to make a game completely. Why put out a game that is supposed to be based on the for-father of RPG playing and not offer it's full compliment of base races and classes? You have games that are out now that are decent that offer more races then this game is going to. Wizard of the Coast should be ashamed of themselves for letting this happen. It's going to make people think Eberron is the same way.
I played the beta and I think this game needs to be sent back to the drawing board and it's battle system made somthing like all the other streamlined MMO's like EQ, EQII, COH etc. This hack and slash crap that SWG and DDO are doing is for the birds.
I think i'll just buy this game to throw it into the furnace and watch it melt away into ablivion like it's sales are going to be.
I agree it would be nice if all those were in for release but I'm confident they will be added over time. EQ2 did the same thing froglocks weren't ready for release so they held off on them, no big deal. at least when they do inplement the other races along with monks and druids it will be done right (we can hope).
I played EQ2 from day 1 and they've quadrupled there quest base, they've done an overhaul on the armor/clothes/equipment and even overhauled the toons them selves. Turbine will do the same its an MMO they will add content often.
I can't go back to EQ2 now after playing DDO the combat is just too boring no where near as fast paced and exciting as DDO. so I really hope they do not streamline it to be like all the others, thanks.
It's already inaccurate because you didn't add a third option to the poll:
"I haven't been able to try it yet but I want to see the poll results"
Some people will just pick one way or the other to see the results, so the poll is already trashed.
- Scaris
"What happened to you, Star Wars Galaxies? You used to look like Leia. Not quite gold bikini Leia (more like bad-British-accent-and-cinnamon-bun-hair Leia), but still Leia nonetheless. Now you look like Chewbacca." - Computer Gaming World
the game is not losing. the numbers are highest on the official ddo site where its a clear yes vote as is to be expected.

the poll on the Official DDO site gave the option for undicided
And you know this how? Are you basing it on how much they've added to their previous games like AC1 and AC2? If you were then you'd know you're screwed. They won't add ANYTHING to the game until 6 months before the close it down.
No what you're doing is comparing Red Hat Linux to Microsoft. You're saying since Microsoft can put out regular updates so can Red Hat, which anyone who's used Red Hat with newer hardware knows is not true.
SOE (makers of EQ2) have a ton of working capital. They can afford to add anything they want, Turbine can't. Turbine can't afford to delay the game to work out the mess they've created. I'd bet they are barely keeping afloat, and it wouldn't suprise me a bit to see a merger or buy out sometime in the near future.
I think they were hoping DDO might save them, but I don't think it will. There are just too many people upset about this game. SWG didn't have the amount of venom in its beta forums that DDO has.
You keep your high hopes for all the updates, and I hope you get them, but when you don't, don't be mad when I say I told you so.

Sounds like they are already planning there first live update and the game hasn't even been released. WoTC is behind them 100% on this project. why are you so determined to convince everyone this game will fail? move on and find a game you like since this is obviously not your cup of tea.
I just wanted to add that while I see lots of negative issues here and on the beta forums (which is to be expected, when a player is not happy he is very vocal and posts it. when a player is happy they are in the game playing and so less positive feedback is visible then negative(hopefully constructive negative feedback) However when i log into the beta everyday I see none of these people. everyone i play with loves the game and we all have loads of fun. all my friends that i convinced to preorder to get there 10 day trial loved the game aswell.
For how many months have you been playing beta friend? I´m playing it since the start, amd class balance has been the least of their priorities.
We are a month away from launch, and still the caster classes are completly broken, playing a sorcerer or a wizard in DnDO just sucks out all the joy from the gameplay, but has this been adressed? nope.
Has turbine fleshed out the content in the game since beta? nope, you still have to repeat quests many many many times to reach level 10, with absolutly no dungeon variation, the dificulty levels are a joke, they change nothing major in the dungeons, its still the same layout, the same progression and have no doubt about one thing, you will be doing those same dungeons over and over again.
How can a game that boasts quest grinding as its only style of play have so few quests? the beta at the momment is practicly the release client, if they dont want 80% of their player base to leave after the first few months, like they did in AC2, then they will have to do at least an expansion level update to the quest content in the first 2 months of the game, because even a casual player playing 2 hours or less a day will reach the level cap in 2 months... and thats it, for those 10 levels you will have repeated the 100 or so quests in the game several times, and you will be without anything to do but stare at the walls.
All ur Mountain Dew is belong to me.
I think I've been in beta about 9 weeks now I have a lvl 8 fighter on Orien and a lvl 7 fighter on kunderak. those are my two most plyed charecters. as for variations in alts I played a bard to lvl 3, I played a barbariand in stress test to lvl 5 and I am just now starting a wizard he is lvl 3.3.
I see the game balancing out alomost everyother week. I agreethere is lots to be done especially in the wizard spell department it will work itself out in beta and after its released. so you have to repeat quest. in every other MMO I've played I've had to camp and kill things repeatedly to be able to lvl up and move on. so thats the game do quests, lvl up your charecter. play with your friends. if you grind the game all games are the same no matter how different a developer tries to make their game.
Luckily there are alot of mmo's out there so everyone can find the one that is right for them. I'm really glad i found DDO I will be cancelling many of my other subscriptions. thats not to say two years down the line when W.A.R is released i won't give that a try or any other mmo i can sample between now and then. but I'm pretty sure i will be a DdO subscriber for quite sometime (length depending on how much content they add through updates and expansions.
I like to remain positive I don't think the game will fail like so many on this forum seem conviced it will. i am confident that with WOTC behind them offering source the game will see regular updates and i bet the first expantion is already under works. they've already posted there plans for the first live update.
