noob question about starting locations

I have played many mmo's that had different starting locations.

I am wondering how this game works.

Does it pick your location for you based on race?

Is there more that one city choice per race?

Can I group with friends no matter what race they pick?

Any helpful info would be great so I can better plan out how I start the game with RL friends.

    4 races atm, 4 diferente start locations, 2 factions with 2 races each, you and ur friends can pick up 1 of the 2 races of the faction you want, only the 1st territory is diferente (1 - 10).

     

    Edit: like i mentioned in other post, is one of the cons of this game, race faction lock, it sucks.

    Thanks for the response. I personally think the faction races and areas add more depth to the game and more role play value. So just to be clear, my friend and I could pick two different races on the same faction and then one of us could possibly run to the other's starting city area and maybe bind there? Or would we need to just grind different 1 thru 10 content before we could really group up?

    I think we will probably choose the same race initially due to certain racial benefits depending on our first goals, but it is helpful to know how this system works for alts.

    Yes, you can and territorys are not that far (at least in east faction).

    But i never did that so i dont know if we dont miss some inicial race quests, for exemple the mount one.

    My advice is for the 1st char choose the same race, its easier  :)
