I will squeeze my vaults of treasure hard and preorder Witcher 3.

Another great RPG that suffers from crap combat...

Why must have good games bad combat?

I think the column's Witcher part was a "bit" thin, there were more on the press conference :)

Yep, the digital preorder is awesome, especially with the included NWN + all exp.pack and the DH comics, but the physical versions are great too, even the standard one has a booklet, the map and the soundtrack cd (compared to the nowadays-common lame releases with just a frikkin steam code in the box), not to mention the collector's edition is like a wet dream for box collector types.

But what I really miss from the column is the (at least) mention of GOG Galaxy.

I'm not a huge fan of today's trend of steam, origin, uplay, arc and the rest of those craps (all in lowercase :) ), and even Trion's new Glyph is big no to me, no matter how lightweight they say it is, simply because it can't be lighter than the previous "no client" stage.

And that's exactly what the guys at CD Projekt did with Galaxy. Option (oh, and also DRM-free) http://youtu.be/nyYW9AOWh-8

    Bratanki, you're the best image

edit: and a correction, the discount isn't 10%, you get 15% if you have Witcher or Witcher 2, and get 20% if you have both. And if you bought them elsewhere, you simply need to add the code to GOG as well, and get the discount.

"and repeatedly tantalizing scantily clad women"

I don't know which word you are using wrong, but "repeatedly tantalizing" doesn't go together. Ever.

Also, "Who would have though" should be "thought".

    Does anyone check this stuff?

1936 — H. P. Lovecraft, At the Mountains of Madness, Ch. IX

As we threaded our dim way through the labyrinth with the aid of map and compass ... we were repeatedly tantalized by the sculptured walls along our route. ... If we had had more films, we would certainly have paused briefly to photograph certain bas-reliefs, but time-consuming hand-copying was clearly out of the question.

Well, I suppose it depends on the situation/tense. To Tantalize is to tease. I don't think anyone would have issue with "repeatedly teasing ..."

"Repeatedly tantalizing" sounds odd but it works.

Hi guys, just wanted to touch on the discount. The base discount for preordering the GOG version is 10% off. Owning the previous versions gets you 5% extra off each.

Also, repeatedly tantalizing works when you are referring to multiple instances of active tantalization.

One of the few games I am happy to preorder. I don't really care about Witcher Adventure game this summer, but I have no problem supporting a great franchise and company.
  • RusqueRusque Member RarePosts: 2,785

    Warlords of Draenor

And I still haven't picked up D3 RoS yet.

At launch the combat was pretty terrible. Clunky, unintuitive, and just plain outright not the least bit fun. You're supposed to be Geralt of Rivia, a badass mutant with superhuman abilities bred specifically for hunting and slaying terrible beasts... and at the beginning of the game two city guards can dispatch you without much trouble because not only are you slow and clunky, but are thrown into it with absolutely no introduction to the new combat system whatsoever. On top of that potions are pretty much useless since you can only drink them while 'resting', meaning you had to either have played the game to know what was coming, or possess psychic abilities.

So yes, combat at launch was fucking awful.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

wow another fail gamer, great game with bad combat? if it has bad combat it isn't great idiot, its game, thats where it require idiot, story is 2nd depends on which kind of game. if a game has bad combat, it sucks, plain and simple. There is no such thing as great game with bad combat.

I beat Dark Souls 2 on steam and i have no desire to replay the game again by myself, let alone buy DLCs. If they announce a PS4 port ill gladly play that version with my friends and get the DLCs.

Witcher 2 had a weak combat system but it was not terrible. Witcher 1 did have bad combat and Projekt Red acknowledged it.

I can understand MMORPG.com doing solo game RPG reviews, but do we need the hype?
  • angerbeaverangerbeaver Member UncommonPosts: 1,273

I bought Witcher 1 and 2 from Gog.com for $5 and then realized steam has achievements. The key was no good on steam so I bought Witcher 1,2,3 from Steam for 53$. Stupid achievements.

Looking forward to both the Dragon Age and Witcher games. they brought me out of the MMO scene. I am almost done my first play through of Dragon age: Origins and still have Dragon age II, Witcher, Witcher II to play before these release!!

Looking forward to both The Witcher and Dragon Age. I am re-playing Dragon Age: Origin Awakening and Dragon Age 2 to get into mood for Inquisition. Then I will replay The Witcher 1 and 2...

    Awesome games.

@Sovrath, Thanks for reminding me of that amazing story. H.P. Lovecraft can not be praised enough.

On topic, the Witcher games never really connected with me. Then again, the last open world RPG that I got really sucked in to was Morrowind...
