Roberts Space Industries has just put a new ship up for sale - the MISC Freelancer - on its official site. Even better, today's episode of The Next Great Starship will be extra-exciting when RSI debuts the Freelancer commercial during the show's live finale. The new freelancer brochure can be seen here.
The finale is on at 3 pm Pacific time, and the winner of the Star Citizen modding competition will have their ship included in the game and will win a cool $30,000.

Their master plan seems to be getting people to buy ships so they have the money to design more ships for people to buy. Oh, and there's supposed to be a game or something being worked on too. Should be out in 2019 or so, just in time to compete with the Elite: Dangerous sequel.

I wonder how many more millions are needed to release this game.
Keep those millions flowing i gues ?
Hope the backers get their moneys worth.....
LOL
THis has taken me by surprise that he did this /sarcasm mode off!
The funny thing is you can now help him and then he will pay you the winnings out of the money you have given him ... When i first started work many moons ago someone came upto me and told me of this awesome thing you can give money and then when you move up the pile you will then get all the money below you..
This game is becoming very much like a pyramid scheme where when you have given enough you will get something, then back to the bottom until you get back up *(see donations) and get something back...
edit*
people mock some of the AA crowd (me for one) for throwing £110 at the alpha game and how much i was stupid its in alpha blah blah, and yet here we have another set of models for the low sum of $110 if your already a backer and $125 if your not, and its not like they even have a gameworld to play them in
This post is all my opinion, but I welcome debate on anything i have put, however, personal slander / name calling belongs in game where of course you're welcome to call me names im often found lounging about in EvE online.

Guys, there are 8 teams working on Star Citizen all covering different areas. The team designing the ships is obviously the one with the prettiest stuff to look at so it gets posted more. The other teams are working on the economy, the code, planetary stuff etc. and are not being hindered by the modelers doing what they are supposed to.
Also the contest is a great way to get fans involved as well as getting good coverage for the game. Rather than hiring some ad firm they're actually doing something constructive that gets them coverage. I'm not going to badmouth them for using a very small portion of the money on advertising in a constructive way that gets fans involved.
I LOLed. Thanks for that.

IIRC doesn't the producer of this project have a bit of a history with "Project Creep" and blowouts?
It happened with DoubleFine too. They asked for $300,000 and promised a fun ride and maybe a game at the end... then they got $3.3 million and suddenly felt the pressure to make the game excellent with their credibility riding on it. The result is the hunt for perfection... and endless delays... and an increasing potential for project failure?
Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.
Each ship is being released as it's completed. That has been the plan all along. What do you expect a fledgling AAA development studio to do?
Uh...no we don't need any more money......FFS grow up. People are buying ships because they are excited for the game and want to support it. I understand buyers remorse but all the ships will be equally awesome.
You guys are acting as if SC is like 10 people doing models and ripping everyone off. There is like 200 or more people in different teams working on every aspect of the game.
There is going to be feature creep and unexpected delays with a project of this nature.
