What do you THINK they're waiting? They're gonna ride it out, gain as much profit from it as possible, and then shut it down. If they cared to do anything you wanted here, they would have done it by now.
...because adding the much requested off rails space PVP was just "waiting it out", right? Same with upcoming player housing, right?
Whatever will make them most profit. Exactly. Housing will be a cash cow for their shop. Doesn't refute what I said. The other aspects in the post I replied to aren't gonna bring any more players at this point, and so they'll milk the ones currently playing with the easiest content.
Ya, focusing their attention on the most requested features that will bring the most amount of players to their game is them just being a bad money grabbing company....got it...:/
You said they wernt gonna add anything, and just coast it out till they shut the game down.....thats vastly diff than only adding what will get them more players, so yes, it absolutly DOES refute what you initially said.
BTW, in the post you quoted, the guy also mentioned off rails PVE space combat...how would that be any diff than the off rails PVP they added when it comes to your new argument (they only add what would make them money/get them more players)? The answer? Adding off rails PVE would bring the same amount of players as off rails PVP, if not more, so it appears you didn't think your new "meaning" out very well.
You went from:
"They arnt going to add anything, they will just wait it out and shut it down when the money stops"
- To -
"They are only going to add what gets them more players (as if thats a bad thing? lol)"
Lets see where you take your initial comment now after your logic being refuted once more...

Well, I guess I've been told. We'll see how things play out, I'm not invested in this whatsoever.

Too many loading screens? Yep I can get anywhere I want with just one....
Crappy game engine? Ah the weak hater talking point well I have no issues on my PC but maybe mine is better then yours.
Too linear? Hmm well there are plenty of ways to level up your toon if you actually played the game you may know this.
No day/night? nope that is still the same way what a horrible game...reaching hater talking point.
Too "themeparky? Thanks for showing your true colors!! A bitter old "sandboxer" showing his bias towards a themepark thanks for stopping by.
Both factions divided from the start? Pretty sure most games have this but I guess when you reaching to bash a game you will pull anything out of your hat.
Yeah thanks for proving you have no knowledge of the current game and are just upset that its a themepark and you want your sandbox to play in.
Dude...plz don't defend the SWTOR game engine....There is a reason Ilium got deactivated, and no its not design related....
Just a tip...there is PLENTY good about SWTOR to talk about, flaunt, and defend.....but competely ignoring the bad aspects and claiming they are a "made up weak hater talking point", only devalues your opinion.
Dude I didn't defend anything. I simply stated those who cry about the engine are either haters or don't even play I assuming the poster I replied to is both. I Also stated I don't have any issues when I play Swtor. If their engine was that crappy wouldnt the game be unplayable? Now I'm very aware of it's limitations and being 3 years in it's well known and one of the last grasps the haters have. Try to follow along and don't put words in that I didn't. I didn't defend the engine...so no my opinions are not devalued because you say so...thanks.
I have no problem playing the game either....as many also don't....just because the game isn't "unplayable" doesn't mean it doesn't have a bad engine........the "badness" of its engine comes into play when larger groups of players are involved. No matter how amaizing your system is, groing form an 8 man ops to a 16 man drops your FPS by a minimum of 20-30....thats insane lol. For you to even say that there is nothing wrong with the engine, shows you 100% were not around at launch running ilium. The lack of the engine being able to handle large scale combat well is the sole reason that ilium was deactivated..... And are you honestly trying to tell me that the part of your post highlighted in green is not defending the engine???? And you say im putting words in your mouth? holy bajezus lol
Come on buddy is this your first mmo? In lotro when you ran raid you were forced to remove you cloak to help lag. WoW has frame rate drops on their raids, reports Wildstar has fps issues , Swtor is no different so if you normally run 60 fps and it drops to 40 because you have 16 people throwing down aoes I don't find that to be crappy or unexpected or unplayable. Again I'm not defending the engine I understand it's limitations. Holy bajezus fps drops in a raid/ops close the game down!!!
Now feel free to continue to highlight a section of mine and try (and fail) to turn it into something I didn't say until you are green in the face. It won't change what I really said. Now continuing to go back three years to ilium really shows you are stretching and have no merit or credibility on your failed attempted at saying I defended the engine because I never did. I said those who cry about it are either haters or don't play, I'm really starting to wonder if you fall into these categories? Because I don't whine and cry about does not mean I defended it, because I understand it's limitations doesn't mean I defended, because I stated I don't have any issues that make it unplayable doesn't mean I defended it I just don't cry about something for three years that I have no control over.
Ok, you win, there is absolutly nothing wrong with SWTOR's game engine. Bioware deactivated ilium because it was boring, not because 20+ players on screen drove framerates down to the teens on beast rigs........thanks......

No I said that hater and those who don't play complain about the engine.
Your arguments have been 1) inserting words I didn't say 2) fps drops in raids which happens with every mmo and 3) illim which is no longer an issue cause they removed it because of the engines limitations.
How many times do I have to say their engine has limitations? I understand you are just flustered and got caught red handed trying to insert words into another posters comments in hopes to accomplish your own agenda. Well you failed buddy. Again let me repeat to you very clearly this time. I never defended the engine, I stated I am able to play the current game (no illum so you can stop pouting about that) perfectly fine and the game never becomes unplayable. I have stated I'm aware of the engines limitations as is everyone who plays it. Most who don't have an agenda accept it for what it is.
So again I never defended the engine, I hope you can understand that move on from your failed attempted at inserting words I didn't say. I also hope you can move on from illim sorry their engine wasn't able to handle it but it's not healthy to pout and get worked up over something like that three years later.
Temper tantrums lol pretty funny coming from the guy pouting about something that was taken out of a video game almost three years ago!
"Crappy game engine? Ah the weak hater talking point well I have no issues on my PC but maybe mine is better then yours."
...ya...i totally put that in your mouth....im so caught red handed
I guess this convo cannot progress, so lets agree to disagree....
MMOs need time, and after 2 years SWTOR is a great game and on the right direction and while ESO and WS will lose players in the incoming months, SWTOR will find people coming back to try the game once again.
I had almost the same experience as the OP - Wildstar was meh, ESO, GW2, Terra, Secret World... all meh. SWTOR has been the better game for me as well. With new movies on the horizon, I don't see that changing.

Yep agree to disagree...but you are wrong... where exactly does it say "I defend the game engine!" Hmm I just pointed out the game never becomes unplayable and I have no issues...that's not defending the engine. That's being able to understand the game engine limitations.
The poster you quoted never said the game was unplayable, he said the engine was crappy (aka, has limitations). You responded with its not crappy, because you have no issues...
I never "pouted" about Ilium being removed...i only used it as an example showing how "crappy" the engine was. Rather than face the reason on why it was deactivated (the engine not being able to handle large scale groups, aka crappy in an "MMO" context), you tried to twist that into me only brining it up because im mad that they deactivated it? nice attempted deflection....
Now, after being proven wrong, you are saying you admit it has limitations (aka crappy, you know, the thing you said it wasnt), but its not unplayable (nobody ever said it was unplayable), therefor you were right all along?

Enjoy your Star Trek taint on them, with J.J. Abrams as director. Between this and the canon being erased by Disney any continuity with the brand is out the window.
I'll probably go to midnight showings like everyone else, but I have very mixed feelings about Star Wars overall over the past few years. It'll probably show up in Kingdom Hearts along with Marvel, so Darth Vader can swing his lightsaber keyblade at Donald Duck in a Captain America costume.

Wrong again little buddy...I said those who cry and whine about it almost three years later are haters or don't play. So now you are putting a definition of a "crappy" engine and that is it has limitations? Well then every engine in every video game ever is "crappy" engine. Wow you are digging yourself a huge hole little buddy. Having limitations like every single engine has does not make it "crappy". Sure some are better then others some have less limitations then others but you creating a definition to try and push your agenda is pretty sad .
On a side note unless that is your alt account how do you know what the poster ment by "crappy" my definition would have been unplayable or severe issues while playing which is not the case for Swtor . Keep in gigging buddy!
Herein lies the problem
To me, crappy means it has big limitations, such as not being able to hanlde large scale groups in an MMO
To you, crappy means completely unplayable...
Guess which one is probably closer to that guys meaning of "crappy"?
An no, every MMO ever made doesnt have a "crappy engine".....WoW doesnt drop to a crawl with large scale groups...WAR didnt either, ESO doesnt, Wildstar doesnt, GW2 doesnt.......yes some do do, and yes those also have crappy engines (Like AoC for instance...)... I know you are trying to paint every MMO with the same brush to imply that not being able to handle large groups is "common"...but you really should stop that...
Every MMO has issues of some sort or another - Check
Personal preference can never be dictated by someone else - Check
So to one it is crappy, to another it is a non issue as it does not truely effect their gameplay

Now, after being proven wrong, you are saying you admit it has limitations, but its not unplayable, therefor you are right?

Oh wow your first definition of a "crappy" engine fell flat lol. Now you are scrambling and changing your definition of a "crappy" engine. Your first definition was "limitations" all I said is every engine has limitations being the number of people on screen, the graphics, or other aspects. But now since your old definition didn't fit your agenda you are going to go ahead and change it...oh the credibility is not strong in this one. Keep digging.
Please quote my conflictiing defanitions...untill then, I will consider this discussion as being over, with my point finally getting accross to yoou...thanks.
I'll play a long though and help you out.... in my first response to you, and in every response since, has always beeing about its inability to hanlde large scale groups....This is directly from my first response to you "Dude...plz don't defend the SWTOR game engine....There is a reason Ilium got deactivated, and no its not design related...."
Ya...i totally changed my meaning of crappy...you got me...lol
My first response: Dude...plz don't defend the SWTOR game engine....There is a reason Ilium got deactivated, and no its not design related....
My second response: I have no problem playing the game either....as many also don't....just because the game isn't "unplayable" doesn't mean it doesn't have a bad engine........the "badness" of its engine comes into play when larger groups of players are involved.
My 3rd response: Ok, you win, there is absolutly nothing wrong with SWTOR's game engine. Bioware deactivated ilium because it was boring, not because 20+ players on screen drove framerates down to the teens on beast rigs........thanks......
My 4th response: You responded to a poster stating that issues with its engine were made up and just a "weak hater talking point"......I only responded to you telling you that its engine issues are quite real...
My 5th response: I never "pouted" about Ilium being removed...i only used it as an example showing how "crappy" the engine was. Rather than face the reason on why it was deactivated (the engine not being able to handle large scale groups, aka crappy in an "MMO" context), you tried to twist that into me only brining it up because im mad that they deactivated it? nice attempted deflection....
My 6th response: To me, crappy means it has big limitations, such as not being able to hanlde large scale groups in an MMO
What changed in any of those? Right, absolutly nothing...nice try though lol

Your first definition was "limitations" plain and simple. Your second definition was "big limitations" to you is the ability to have more then 16 played on a screen at once. (16 man ops don't have the game breaking issues you claim). So yes you changed your definition in attempt to further your agenda.
Well I hope you learned your lesson about putting words in that were not there and making up definitions to suit your agenda it's wreaks with desperation.

the old "crappy engine" argument does'nt work anymore.. the game can handle large scale battles quite well these days.
i've been in plenty of big wpvp battles without problems.. people just cling to the past and never let go.
I am as active in SWTOR today as I was at launch, and I am pretty sure iv done more 16 man OPS than you (we can verify if you want), and I can state without a doubt that performance is pretty much the same when it comes to large scale groups

It's fairly awkward seeing someone squirm and in total damage control on an online forums. But yes you missed one buddy.
#6 would actually be the first time you said "the definition of a crappy engine is LIMITATIONS!!" Then after you were given examples about how all engines have examples you came back with your #6. It's ok I'm not surprised you would leave the real #6 out everyone understands you are in damage control and been caught lying by inserting words I never said and changing from simple "limitations" to " big limitations" to suit your agenda.
Ill stop taking the bait...thank you for this exchange lol

Yep 16 man ops run perfectly fine...definitely not a "crappy" engine. I mean if it was a "crappy" engine you would have NOT run this huge number of ops you keep bragging about.
ya, I forgot that crappy meant completely unplayable...my bad...

i dont doubt you've been in more ops than me(i only do it when bored) as i mentionend i've been in plenty of wpvp battles of the larger scale 20v20,30v30 etc without much troubles.. and that's a whole lot more activity than what you'd see in an ops.

We were gathering for a pilgram kill last week when a republic ops intervened....it was roughly 16 vs 16, and slowed to about 15 fps. Thats with a 50 meg pipe, a titan, and 12 gigs of ram. If 15 FPS is perfectly fine for you, then I guess its a matter of preference. Its pretty much the exact same experiance i used to have at launch when i was running a 5970, and the same thing used to happen on the same planet (Voss).
Never has that happened to me in WoW, WAR, DCUO, ESO, Wildstar, GW2, is all.

So because it has never happened to you in those games and only in Swtor what are you saying?
Well I hope you were not implying it only happens in Swtor. I know you have had a few bumps with your comments today so I will give you the opportunity to clarify your point.
You are right: WoW, GW2, and Wildstar are known to drop to the teens in FPS when 20+ players are involved. My bad, sorry.
Can you please link me to instances where the developers of WoW, GW2, and Wildstar deactivated entire zones due to framerate issues, I just want to be put in my place for good, thanks.

He keeps changing his story, so im kinda stuck quoting the initiall exchange that started it, but yes..sorry
Oh OK then keep carrying on. I want to read the debate because you both have a lot of good points.
