At a weak point. Been waiting. Alpha still good atm?

KarbleKarble Member UncommonPosts: 750

I have watched about 50 youtubes.

I have chatted with about 20 various well known alpha twitchers.

Have had more than a few beers.....

literally thinking of just buying into alpha now even though I know it will be in Beta this month with date announcement any day now.

Any thoughts?

I know I will enjoy the game.

I already have a few builds I want to work on

Question is.....is the cash shop items going to be worthwhile. I think at this point....if they provide more dance moves. maybe some other interesting things....this could be my click and buy moment.

please....anyone....errm. damn beer.

if you are someone that $150 is a lot of money i'd say just wait.. if $150 is whatever i'd say go for it.. even when beta goes live it will only be couple days here and there while alpha will be up almost 24/7.. I look at it like this two regular games cost me $60 generally i usually only get 50-100 hours max from a single player game unless its an RPG I may get little more but usually not.. plenty i have bought lasted me 10 hours.. you could easily get thousands of hours from AA if you get into the world and the PVP and join a good guild so it's really what value you want to put on your time and how bored you are :P :)

You have a good point. I don't buy games every other week, but the $60 per game is about the going rate for many top shelf games. The reality is that ArcheAge with the founders pack ability os several months after launch and cash shop options plus bonus items seems to be a winner compared to my normal options. thanks for making this decision a little less questionable. :)

I'm biased, cuz I did the youtube dance marathon too and eventually broke down and bought the alpha despite beta being "just around the corner", so I hope you join us.

With three weeks left of June and no announcement it's starting to sound like June beta is not going to happen.

Even if it does I figure I can play this game until 2015 without paying another dime and still have $75 store credit for... something (ideally patron time, but not counting on that possibility).  Ignoring store credit that's 7 months of the game at ~$21 per month, with a headstart thrown in.  It's not like the game has alpha-level bugs, since it's been out for over a year.

oh one thing you should know is land space in alpha is pretty much all full so you gotta camp spots to hope and get a plot.. since everyone in alpha can build it's a bit oversaturated. Once the game goes live it shouldn't be a huge issue as a good % of people on each server should be F2P players who can't put down land.. BUT you can join someones family and they can allow you to use their house and farm so you aren't completely out of luck in that aspect if you can find a plot.

Why not spend $15 and try Darkfall while you wait for Archeage to come out?

Chances are you may or may not like it better. Either way, you're only out $15.

So much hate for this game on the forums, I think a lot of people here have an extremely skewed view when it comes to this game. Why not see for yourself only $15 now and I promise if you like PvP you will get more than your money's worth.

Oh man.  Darkfall and Archeage are not even in the same category.   Archeage offers so, so much more, it's like saying why don't you go give knitting a try while you wait.

By the way, in my opinion (I've been playing Alpha since they offered it) I would just wait.  The land space issues are a pain and likely the beta will be soon enough.  Maybe consider one of the less expensive packages if you want the perks.

Yes and NO. I think $150 is a good deal for extra bonuses you get, but since beta is around the corner I wouldnt waste that extra $100 just to get few perks. I also dont think its worth spending so much money on a game that you may not like in the long run. My hype for the game went down considerably after what i read about it on Russian forums and following what Black Desert will offer. AA isnt very unique, and if youre looking for a different MMO that hasnt been rubber stamped like all the others in the past 10 years, I would say wait for beta to try it.

All these people who are hyping it, are just like you, looking for a new unique MMO to play, and will hype it up alone on the premise. This exactly the same thing that happened with AION, TERRA , Warhammer, and list goes on. Its exciting before you actually play it and get indepth experience, you will be disappointed in the end.

The difference is, a lot of us are actually playing it.

I'm trying to limit myself as I want to wait for launch, but it's damn hard.

OP: You seem sold already, so if you have the money then why not.

If $150 is a significant part of your budget, then wait either for beta or launch.

There _is_ land space issues, at least for the larger plots but I see them going for 50 gold. It's not exactly impossible to farm this.

But the rest of the game is ready, the alpha part is basically the translation. All the npc voices and cut-scenes are in korean. The text is translated though.
