Made this thread in the official forums, not a single response. Am honestly curious about it, may well be i'm just 'not getting it'. If you don't mind, have a read and share your comments please.. (long text warning)

Pasting:

I made a thread almost immediately after launch, if you may recall (ie be kind and pretend it was read :p) all of the things i had at the time noted turned out to be concerns that were later on voiced by many others in and outside these forums..with all this entails.

I urge to at the very least have a read in this post.

TLDR in advance:
We understand your conceptualisation, vision, direction. We do. It is the way you take to get there that is at heart.
Of the issues, the complaints, the elements (due to absense or mispresentation) that hold the game back.
Cause if you think this is well, you have no idea what it could have been like.

1) --- Community ---

A)
We cannot whisper people.
Can you really not grasp the import of this? Uless account name and ingame name match, tough break..

So we cannot communicate outside the closed barriers of guilds. People run around us, no chance at bonds forming, at communique, at a silly joke, comment. An offer to group on the fly. All the things that bring the unexpected. In terms of socialising and human experience, we may as well be playing single/solo.
We need a way to 'mark'-> 'click' -> 'whisper marked player'

B)
The only MMO where people and dead pixels (aka NPCs) are equated.
They run around, i cannot talk to them, i do not need them, i cannot even discern all the time if they are human or AI..not unless i consciously hover over them..why..

You wanted a Skyrim with a monthly sub game? Fine, design floating nameplates, and make them optional. Default turned off. """Vision""" intact. Profit for all those other people currently scratching their heads.

C)
a Who/Guild listing page. Know your neighbour, know your guilds. It is a command you already have working inwards, all you need is a silly UI to dress it with. Got any idea how many people check? Why do you think that is?

D)
Your forums are slick at the expense of handy. You hide posts and sections behind other sections, behind overall tags. You would see an increase of posts (and as such participation) if you re-worked them. An Off-Topic is still conspicuously absent.

2) --- UI / API ---

There is a way to both keep this game as a Skyrim with sub (though again, why..) and simultaneously make it feel like an MMO for everyone else currently wishing this. Their number being legion.
We do understand, as i said. We also -know-. We tried FF14. They too were headed for the consoles. Go have a look at how amasing their UI is, and how, without lacking user friendliness or responsiveness, it actually resembles that of an MMO.
What is this way then?

A)
Allow us to be able to open our inventory for example without the world stopping.
Allow us to have mouse functionality (press key and game is as is now, press other key, i can have an MMO feel, i have a keyboard key to walk, atttack, etc, i have my mouse to 'function')

Dropping everything just so we can press 'B'. send a simple chat line. check our skills. and so on. is just..wrong. Senseless.
Skyrim was a single game guys. The world did pause when you wanted it. This is an MMO. The world moves on. No one player and no one NPC, event, or script waits for you. How many times have you seen posters here from people complaining about dying just because they wanted (the nerve!) to do one of the above while playing?

This maintains the """vision""" Looks and feel remain as are. again set as turned off by default. There.
This is extremely important. If you think i know not what i am saying, go see Tera. Another example right there. Their combat is similar to yours, mouse functions wise. Have a look at their UI. So be it your combat element, or be it your console targetting, your way is wrong.

Wrong.

B)
Reconsider your API restrictions. Too closed in, too tight, too restrictive. They wanted an ES feel? They got it. Reconsider the possibility of allowing those that want an MMO + TES to customise their experience further.

This is not a bashing, a raging, or whatever they use when below highschool education or the age 15. I like this game. I just really honestly wish i could also like this MMO.
My sincere apologies if i am offending somehow, or if the thread ends up to nothing other than a flame thread. Not my intentions.
Wish you well, see you in-game :)

    In response:

    1.

    a) Yes, we can send tells. No idea why you can't, but I certainly can.

    b) This is actually normal in MMO's.

    c) I know I wouldn't benefit from this. I don't believe many would use it.

    d) I'll agree that the forums need work, but I don't think it needs an off-topic section. There are millions of other forums out there. I visit game forums to discuss the game, and now what I had for dinner.

    2.

    a) This is the same in every MMO I can think of. It just looks a bit different.

    b) I'd prefer them to remove all API access, not remove restrictions. Give everyone a level playing field without the need to trust third party developers.

In conclusion, I can see why your post went unanswered. Most of what you write is, frankly, either factless or fantastic and your comment "whatever they use when below highschool education or the age 15" is very immature and is undeniably flamebait. It demonstrates that you consider your opinion to be the only valid point of view and that you're not even open to those of others.

I could go on, but I've got work....

wait, how exactly can you whisper people? So far i only manage if account -and- actual character name are identical. Has this been changed in any of the recent patches and i was unaware of it? Because i will admit i have stopped trying, may well have gone past me (i don't read the patch notes unless it is a milestone)

as far as immature is concerned..colour me tired from staunch supporters replies, be they eloquent or unintrlligent. If a two liner can shoo away even one of them, profit. If said two liner makes me appear immature to people i have no affiliation or acquaintance with..i mind not to be honest. Not in the slightest :)

I agree OP, this is why millions have gone already.  Not much can be fixed because of the mega server and the possibility of being made for consoles.

    - Many players are already gone. Developers have to learn that they have to get things right the first time. Players don't come back unless the MMO is a popular classic.

    - Developers don't really take any advice, they never did.

    - Any changes that do happen usually take years......One possible reason could be that soon after release they have there development teams already working on plan B.......Plan B ?......Prepare for F2P.

    - The big secret.....Most money for mmos are digital sales, they don't give a rats but about retention.

Developers are close minded......They all sit in the same room working together with the same thinking and vision.  It's easy to group when the guy is sitting right next to you......It's easy for them to right click, trun a wheel click on chat, then type a paragraph when you invented the system.  And the guy sitting next to you is waiting for THAT paragraph, with no other agenda other than waiting to except.

In response to 1(b) you can go into your settings and set it so NPCs appear with a green bar above their heads. Not everyone wants to see this which is why it is not the default

    Millions have left?

Regardless I see allot more people ingame then the few that complain about the game.

And I am 100% sure it aint the developers who are close minded.

OP I can only partially agree with the official forum being somewhat messy. The rest I have a different experiance then you have also the things you complain about I don't get it. It's really hard to memorize a few key for what to push for what info?

UI is to me one of the best UI's of any MMO I have played, finaly the gameworlds opens up instead of a fully cluttered UI with all sorts of info inscreen. I looked at some vids where people I think are using add-ons and to be honost they are really a turn-off for me.

I would really like to be able to have the option of showings player names above their character, and being able to whisper those players using that name. I don't care if most MMOS are using the account names.

IMO showing character names and being able to whisper players using their character name whould greatly inhance the MMO experience and making it optional would satisphy those that want the Elder Scrolls Experience.
