Closed Beta release?

Keldor837Keldor837 Member UncommonPosts: 263

Figured I'd open up a thread for people to leave any information they may have or to share when it begins. I ask only that you link your source and don't leave speculation.

Thanks in advance to anyone that has and shares information on the closed beta test and it's launch.

I have searched and searched and all i can find is that CN Open Beta starts at the end of may
  • azarhalazarhal Member RarePosts: 1,402

Information will probably be available once they open the forums (should be soon according to twitter).

Funny enough the whole thing feels a bit amateurish for PWE.

Is it going to be under NDA?  When does it begin?  These are the questions I'm wondering....
  • Keldor837Keldor837 Member UncommonPosts: 263

This is an asian port, meaning it's been out for at least a year over seas. There's never an NDA with a game that's porting over since there's already plenty of material available online. Be it in another language, but it's still there for those smart or resourceful enough to get it. For some reason though PWE is not marketing this game AT ALL online. Maybe there's so much hype for other games released and in beta's that they're not bothering. That's going to be either really good (keeping the brain dead and ignorant masses out) or really bad as there won't be enough people or the game isn't projected at making a significant profit to bother.

    Time will tell I suppose.

Well, some game companies do still have an NDA for ports (that's totally silly ofc but yeah).

The game definitely looks like some sort of Age of Wushu clone. I'm interested to see how well they've managed that, and whether they've improved on something.

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

28th May is when closed beta begins. It was in the info on the launcher.
  • Sal1Sal1 Member UncommonPosts: 430

It was? I didn't see that when I installed this. This company needs to take Marketing 101 at there local University. There isn't any information about this on there website that I can find.

  • azarhalazarhal Member RarePosts: 1,402

None of their games really have that many information on their webpage. Might be an Asian thing, or a MMO thing, I've seen western MMOs with no real information as well.

About NDA, it won't have any going by the official twitter that says: "You can definitely stream, share screens/videos, and talk about the game while in Closed Beta."

    The twitter also have a mention of only 3 characters/server (it's F2P...)

Some speculation has arisen that closed beta is being hushed as they sit back and see how interested the gaming community gets while not actively advertising the game. As some "experiment" to see how many hungry gamers are out there searching for a new MMO. Since our site here still has over 5k keys from the 10k it started with two weeks ago. I'd say the hype in the community is lacking with all the other MMO's out/coming out right now. So, if there's any credence to this speculation. The beta will likely be a few months off or at least a few weeks after Wildstar launches.

I wonder who was that smarty pants forum warrior coming up with supposition of "Let's see how many people are interested in a game no one knows about?"...

For some reason im actually keen on this game. I liked Age of Wushu, I hope they make this much better then that.

I'm right there with you. Though to be honest for me it's more of a filler until I can play ArcheAge. I'm not willing to buy the $150 package to get into the alpha (along with other perks) and the $100 one doesn't offer that much when you consider closed beta is going to be four day weekend events. If Swordsman is half as good as the video's I've seen online, then this should hold me over along with my other regulars.

I am just glad to see that there are a bit more Wuxia style games being translated into English, or made in English.

Eh, mmorpg.com should take down the beta key info banner if it's not even valid anymore.  Just took the time to register and download and now I can't play it :P

Not sure why PWE sent out keys so early. I mean a week or two in advance would be good, but a month? For a CBT that will run for about 1/4th that. Doesn't make sense.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

They did the same thing with Neverwinter Online. They gave close beta keys in January in a few places (like PCGamer mag), but the beta only started in March. The difference is that Swordsman have already been out since last year in China, they already had a game to download. This also mean that the beta will probably move to open beta real fast.

They also announced purchasable packs today. I'm surprised to learn that at level 25 we get to use a companion, I didn't know this game had them.

Kind of on fence about game, but if it has their usual multiple currency system (like STO and NWN). Then I can't see me sticking with it. Plus I know now  not to buy PWE packs, had to find that out hard way from STO. Bought the most expensive legacy pack they had for Romulan expansion. Know how many of those ships I still use? None. I don't have a problem with packs, I have a problem with packs that have items that quickly outlive their usefulness though.

Well grabbed a beta key from the site thinking it was already in beta... turning out to be a week away :(

Anyways after being all hyped up to try a new game and doing some research on the game while it was downloading. I found almost no information on this game at all. It reminds me a lot like Age of Wushu in the fact that when it was in early NA beta it had very little information on things and videos. I hope it has fun features that Age of Wushu had (the Air movement /  Guild caravans and being bandit and raiding those caravans/ Jail). I can't wait to get my hand on this title to hopefully re-live some of the Age of Wushu Nostalgia.

Screw leveling games, give me something with "End game" at the beginning of the game.

I'd update the OP with the date. That way it would be the first thing people [who are still wondering] will see when they click the thread.  ;)
