Turbine has ruined its name. Why I won't play.

Its hard to fathom how the same company that is producing D&D Online, and made Asheron's Call 2, could have made Asheron's Call. Turbine is now riding on the backs of fans of very popular series. Most D&D fans are going to buy D&D Online, and most LOTR fans will be buying Middle Earth Online. Many of these players will be new to MMORPG's, and think that this is the norm, the standard. With asheron's call, you could tell turbine had spent time creating the quests, I guarantee in MEO, the quests will be like chores, the PvE will just be a constant grind, its going to be boring compared to what it could be.

Too soon to tell.  It could actually be quite good if it is similar to WoW.  Remember that games like AC are pretty much a thing of the past.  Not because they are not good but rather they are expensive to maintain (ie manpower).  AC never truly got its day in the mmorpg world.  It could of, should of been advertised and got more loyalty from those who developed it.  But most of the developers used AC as a stepping stone to further their perspective careers.  Subsequently the game suffered and so did their careers.

I believe LotRO will have a following both of mmorpg players and tolkien fans.  It has a good chance at success.  And, after the fiasco of Dark and Light there will be alot of roleplayer types, carebears and tolkien fans to see this game to the end.  PvP'ers will not be going here.

Turbine is not the worst company out there.  SOE and Farlan are really notorious.

For those veteran mmog players out there we all can relate to what these guys are saying. But for every mmog I play and I have played a few there is always going to be a grind, sorry to say it but it is. I power level which mean for about 5-8 hours nothing but leveling. I don't do it all the time just until I get to that good point where I am a threat pvp and when I can go on raids which ever the case may be.

The point is there is always a grind; work around it, play a little or don't level as much find things that re-spark your love of the game again. It's that simple.image

So you've played the game?  Because that is the only way that you could guarantee those things.

Oh, and by the way, the game isn't called MEO anymore.  Maybe you should look the game up and actually read some info before you start bashing it.

While I have nothing against PvP in context, I would also LOVE to see room made for a deeper-textured game than the point-and-shoot to which SWG degenerated.  Three cheers for Turbine, if they are making room for BOTH!!!  My husband and I have been trying to limp through Farlan's SoG, and I must admit it is a terrifically frustrating experience.  We are hoping for the best with LOTR.

Turbine are making quests the major focus in LotRO, so I fail to understand why the OP thinks they are going to fall flat on their faces. Some people might think that cutting PvP or the ability to play evil races is a real negative, but they are doing that to make sure the narrative is coherent. Bashing the quests seems to be attacking Turbine for the one area they claim to be making as strong as possible.
