One of the best things about going to game conventions is seeing games that really surprise you. For the second time in a row Styx, Master of Shadows has done just that. If you are a fan of stealth style RPGs where charging in is not recommended, then you will love Styx. The goblin that hides, poisons water by puking, and cuts foes down with leaping death from the rafters has shown us two solid demos now. We can only wait until the game launches later this year.

Not enough mmo games that allow playing races like goblins and dwarves, especially MMOs seem to stray away from this more and more. The only title that I can come up with that has goblins (and dwarves I think) is Pathfinder Online, and I don't even think that is close to finished.
To be back on topic, I love the concept of this game and I hope it is good. On the other hand however these are the same guys that made Of Orcs and Men and that game had its fair share of problems.
Uhhh, yeah That's kinda the point. The world needs more Thief-likes, so long as they are good.

Please Note: I'm done arguing with unreasonable people with an agenda and/or those that fail to see logic.
Argue if you must, discount my post with anti-logic and/or Hyperbole. I won't be responding any longer.
I played world of warcraft for 8 years and have grown quite bored with it, as for Warhammer I don't think that is still around! I just say that you do not run into the traditional options like you used to. More and more you get those really weird anime looking races that don't push my buttons at all. I think the one game that comes close is guildwars 2 and even those have non-traditional races (but done well, in my opinion).
Vanguard is still up these days?
To however add to what you replied, world of warcraft was actually one of the few examples that would let you play non traditional "nonhumanlooking" races with it feeling right, such as orcs, goblins, trolls, I guess taurens count too.
As someone said before me, some of those look rather cuddly with WoW's artstyle. Would love to be a badass goblin in a mmo with this kind of artstyle though, but this game might just do it for me even if it is a singleplayer experience.
As for Vanguard I just noticed they're closing 31st of July this year, that is sad to hear but not a surprise.
In most fantasy games out there, goblins was the least playable race, and in most games, orcs and dwarfs never get along... Not in LOTR, not in Warcraft, not even in Warhammer...
Goblins are never usually fit for combat in general, and tend to only be what could be the labour force that drives the orcs army, the greenskins of the orcs and goblins are always combined in most games and films, however there are certain games that pit them into a unique way and break the stereotype a little. Such as the Goblins are more into inventions and commerce, always trying to rip you off one way or another or will help you out as long as you got the cash. In Final Fantasy XIV, the goblins look different then the goblins we know, and fit more into a post apoc type setting, they can be both foe and friend depending on where you find them and if they not turn to banditry, some engage into the workforce and commerce, not usually the inventive type and not to rip you off like the warcraft goblins.
It's nice to see how people take away the stereotypical and reformat the way the whole race works, and how unique they can be in the world, rather for good or evil or just plain neutral... Same thing with the orcs when Warcraft make them seems more into the side of humanity and less of the barbarianism, however certain groups tend to side one and the other (like garrosh sided with barbarianism and his vision, while thrall sided with humanity and family with his vision).
This game is third person
Wasn't it WOWHammer 20,0000 hmm nope thats not it either.

I get the feeling you prefer to play a troll
Vanguard has both those races.
that is great, I wish I got into Vanguard earlier, but hearing it is closing in a month I think I'll pass on it It seems like only "older" mmos seem to follow this trope. As tired as a lot of people are of traditional fantasy races (maybe goblins is less traditional, but as playable certainly not!) I just love it.
