Best 2nd MMORPG for you

d_20d_20 Member RarePosts: 1,878

Notice, it's not 2nd best.

I mean, what is your off-MMORPG? The one you go to when your main is down or you just want a change of pace?

In my case, I'm still pretty heavily into ESO. It's my main right now. But since I play in the Oceanic time zone, I lose two nights each week during my prime-time for maintenance, so I like to have another game I can jump into and have some fun. I don't mind if it's sub-based, b2p, f2p, whatever.

So I'm looking for a good 2nd game. I've been thinking about a few.

What's your off-MMORPG?

that would be Marvel Heroes.. it's not exactly an mmorpg but it does have alot of those features and there's allways lots of players on no matter what time you play.

I had fun once, it was terrible.

    GW2 and RIFT.

GW2 is a casual dream so I feel like I'm never too far behind even if I play just once in a while. Oh and I don't have to pay anything else than what I already paid to enjoy it.

To be honest, I don't know why I always come back to play some RIFT when I'm bored with my main MMO. The game is good, but not that good. Maybe it's just because easy to pick up with the Instant Adventure feature.

EQ. I've quit and come back a dozen times by now.

But I always end up coming back...

it's pretty sweet.. i just suck at shooters. if i did'nt it would probably be my main one atm.

I always seem to end up in EQ2 when things aren't going right in my 'main' MMO.

In fact, I just bought a month's sub after finally accepting that the ESO devs aren't being what I consider fair to the Templar class, but that's best kept for a different thread.

Others I re-visit are EVE and Rift.

When i want to take a break from my main mmo (GW2) i go to WoW.

With that said, i play many mmorpgs on and off so i dont have time to stick to one and miss the others although right now im not playing any mmorpgs. Im taking a break from the few ones i like and the other ones available are either too generic, get boring too quickly, are completely broken or limit the player too much.

    Dungeons and Dragons Online.

The reason is that for me, the funnest parts of the game are actually solo stuff.  It is hard to have your ´2nd´  MMO be something based on group or guildplay because if you are gone for 6 months you will lose the ability to do that easily.   With DDO I can go back whenver I want and do the ´meat´ of the game without worrying about trying to get back in a guild or whatever.

There is no such thing ... i can play marvel heroes, STO, sniper elite v2, wolfenstein, thief and other SP games when I am not playing D3 (which arguably .. is just one game i play).

So I play some MMO, some not ...

I have GW2 which is a good one for going back to whenever. I've played it a lot in the past, so I'm still taking a break from it. I also have Defiance, which is a nice change of pace, though I haven't logged in for a while. Rift is f2p now, so that's easy to log into whenever, as well.

I was a little surprised no one has mentioned SWTOR. I've been thinking about it recently. I remember it was pretty easy to solo and do some stories, or if I felt like grouping, using the group finder for some flashpoints. Or just jump into pvp or do space battles. There is a lot you can do with just 30 minutes or up to several hours.

It's easy for me to get sucked into Civ 5, though. And the Steam summer sale is up, so I did pick up a couple of deals already :D

SWTOR for me.  You can jump in for 30 minutes and do an fp or browse the auction house or play a bit of the story.

SWTOR is my main MMO and I sub to it.

TSW is my alternate when I need a break from Star Wars and it's B2P.

Mabinogi was my second MMO I ever played after Runescape a few years back, and that's still my backup for when I'm being bored/need something lacking to criticize in a game to scream about how it's not the same while bawling and throwing my keyboard out the- what? Anyways, it's probably the game I've had the most fun with even having reached the point at which you have nothing to do on the wrong server while being on said wrong server. Combat's something I've never seen replicated in another game as well. Of course, this is assuming you don't mind click-movement and mouse rotation being the only reliable way to run around and the fact that it kinda drops you into a system where there's so much to do and unlock that you don't know where to go(Plus the aforementioned combat is another story entirely - if you don't like it or get the hang of it you're probably gonna have more issues than the game is worth with its outdated graphx).

I usually have a bunch of games that I switch too when I'm not playing my main MMO.  Right now I play EQ1 on P99 as my main, when that's down I play:

Secondaries (In order of most played)

    APB:Reloaded

    Left for Dead 2

    Champions of Regnum

    Starcraft2

    Diablo3

    Neverwinter

    GW2

    Tera

    EQ:NL
