that all depends what you want in a game.

DAOC is the best out there IF you like pvp with rewards but dont like losing things and dont want to be open to it at all times so you can do PVE without fear of being ganked.

if that is what you are looking for its the best out there but only draw back is a new player starting out is hard to do becasue most people left playing all have max char and only RVR and quest for new items occasionally. So chances are you will be soloing untill you get to at least level 20.

I agree with almost everything airtrooper said minus the soloing til 20. On my server (Alb/Gareth) I've been in groups since level 5. That said most likely due to me being in a friends guild and them starting alot of alts::::28::. Still RvR is simply great and I'm not even in the Frontiers yet. If you do decide to get this game, Don't rush, take your time enjoy the ride and be sure to visit the BG's!::::02::

Edit: If you want an invite to the guild just ask message me in game name's Jarka.

i would like to sorta supplement Thedreadmu's post. he said that his community interaction is most likey due to him being in a friends guild. Id just like to say, that i went into DAOC completely friendless and i still had the same atmosphere and interaction at a lower level. i was grouped when i wanted to be grouped, and using the /lfg (looking for guild) got me into a decent alliance and a decent guild. Like ive said in other posts, i think the DAOC community is pretty open and newb friendly

haha forgot to do 1/2 my post lol sry :)

Well DAoC it's not too bad at lower lvls anyone with a 50 will be able to /lvl and get a 20 instant sooo its kinda tough but the new classes for each realm cant /lvl so there will always be ppl to group with.  If your nice to ppl it's usually eay to get into a guild and if your more then polite higher ppl will offer to help you out. You can go to BG's right away (BG-Battlegrounds, A lil Area where PvP is allowed) and u can lvl from killing other ppl from lvl 1 all the way to 50 so if pvp is your thing:) and if your more pve friendly theres even moe to do. well i hoped that helped a lil

All classes can solo in DAoC and can get to lv 50 in 2 weeks with Catacombs.  So I don't know about whoever said it's hard to level or be solo in this game.

In fact I'll go as far as to say that with Catacombs this game is THE fastest leveling game out there (Dunno about Shadowbane heard it was fast too and GW doesnt count).

Anyways yes DAOC IS good but you have to understand that the real meat of the game comes in form of RVR not killing dragons and stuff.  Granted the game DOES offer enough PVE, everyone knows that the game is focused on RVR.

Lv50 in 2 weeks?!!! that sucks then I'll get bored being lv 50 blah blah... LOL being lv50 is just the start of the fun, where in this game you make your character better by killing other players (FUN) not raiding some mob and hoping to get an item that will make you better.

See this game is not ITEM driven (EQ,WoW and most MMO's = your toon gets better by getting items)  In DAOC your toon gets better by doing the one thing the game is advertise at... by killing people!, you get Realm Points that you can use to buy abilities that make your character better.

So I don't need gear then?  Not so fast ... gear in this game does make your stats better (just like any other game) you still have to get you Spellcrafted Gear (player made and such) to achieve max Stats and Resists, then you take your SKILLS and your Spellcrafted Geared toon and go RvR .

So yeah I can make a lv 50 Hero and be Rank 1 and have crappy gear ... is not the same as a lv 50 Hero Rank 10 , Spellcrafted/Darkspired Geared, Max stats Hero, but even then skills play a big part on how good you are ... lastly RvR ranks it takes 63 million Realm Points to reach Rank 13  to this day only 1 player I think ever reached 23million rps in 4 years....

DAOC plain and simple is fun and the one thing I love the most.... YOU DON'T NEED TO FEEL FORCED TO RAID OR NO DKP WHICH MEANS NO LOOT....  See I played EQ,WoW,etc  and man I hated the fact that I HAD to raid for 6+ hours 6 days a week to get loot, in DAOC you can miss a whole month of game time and it won't matter, why? casue we don't kill some Uber mob , we kill players , take keeps, relics, towers, siege, etc instead and there is always RvR...

Yes DAOC is fun.  But you MUSt like PVP or don't even try it.

In answer to your question yes this is the BEST PVP MMORPG out there in many folks opinion.  Personally on top of that I think it is also one of the best PVE MMO's out there.

As to the low end game.  Level 1-20 will be very active if you play on Gareth.  A little less so on Lamorak and on any of the "TOA" servers (the normal servers) 1-20 will be mostly solo.  This is because Gareth and Lamorak are 'classic' servers and, as such, do not have a /level command to boost characters instantly to 20 so there are more low level folks running around for you to group with.  It's just that basic.  And I've played on both the classics and the normals recently so that's speaking from personal experience.  Also, because of the way certain buffs work on the 'normal' servers people are more inclined to solo than on the 'classic' servers because they can use buff bots without affecting their xp intake.  Thus allowing them to solo quite easily if they have a buff bot.

So the Classic servers are, generally, going to be where new players have the easiest time meeting people, making new acquaintances and having fun grouping.  The "TOA" servers, on the other hand, have much more high end PVE content.  So it's a trade-off.  If you play on a classic server you'll have lots more people to group with at lower levels, at higher levels it's pretty much the same on all servers.  On a TOA server (normal server) you'll have more high end PVE content.

On both types of server there are plenty of people to group with.  I always recommend picking servers with higher innate populations, however, rather than relying on cluster population.
