Why haven't MMOG sites been all over this one ? Where are player "reviews" of their early experiences? I'm not getting close to this game till the WORD is out. Been fooled too many times.
Phase 1 of the US beta was *just released*. There's not going to be extensive information on this for the sites yet.
You can go to the official sites or look at the fan sites for more information. But, until more players from the US beta version get an idea, you're not going to be able to see full reports.
Also - the only other "playable" versions that have been out have been from China (not in english) and in PH. They banned US IPs from the PH version, so not too many of the players can trick their way in.
So, you've only got a handful of people that have actually officially played out the game. Just be patient, sometimes the best things are worth waiting for. I know it's frustrating, but if you're worried about being fooled, just wait for others to give their input.
Also, no info on the system requirements! I pre-ordered this without knowing if it will work on my PC, I'm also been seen lot sof negative info on this, if I keep reading things like that here I'm going to cancel my pre-order before I get my beta key and buy something else!
RF player here. Some important things that I want to point out about this game:
1)There isn't any variety when it comes to character looks. There are only a few sprites that are offered, and although you will have to choose your character's face, hair, pants, shirt, etc when you create a character, only the hair and face will matter, as once you start leveling everyone will be wearing similar clothes. Expect to find lots of "clones" in the game.
2)Almost every equipment/weapon is generic. Mages can use swords/swordsmen armor, gunners can wear mage armors, etc. Basically due to the fact that the only requirement for wearing something is for you to train your ability in that field (warrior equips require short range points, ranger equips require long range points, etc. The points you get from -tadaaaa!- grinding!)
3)lots and lots of grinding. To raise your skills you need to use them over and over again. To raise your abilities, you need to use them over and over again. Example: a) Warriors need short range points in order to increase their damage and to wear certain armors at certain levels. In order to raise your short-range points, you need to hit a monster for a certain value. b) everyone needs defense points. In order to raise defense points, you need to get hit by a monster over and over again.
Leveling is also hard. as of now, the maximum level is 50. At level 35, it took me 2 straight (as in non-stop) days of playing to reach lvl 36.
4) Not much variety in skills either. Skills in one race will have a counterpart skill in another race, only with a different name.
5) Almost impossible to kill someone from a rival race one on one.
To sum these up, theres no variety character-wise and skill-wise, there will be major grinding, and the emphasis is on race vs race battles.
Hey paparulez, thanks for the info - certainly clears up a few questions I had.
Also just wondering, are there areas/quests/bosses that groups of players will be working co-operatively on? Or will the emphasis only be on levelling (fairly early on) and PvPing (later on)?
pvp'ing will be "compulsary" @ level 25, as you will be given a quest to join the chipwars (happens thrice daily) everytime it starts. Chipwars usually require almost every person from your race, as you will be fighting the armies of the 2 other races there.
Main focus at any point in the game is to gain exp and raise your abilities at the same time... so it is very unwise for players to go powerleveling (like having your high level friends tank monsters for you so u'll level faster), as you will gain exp more than you gain ability points, therefore leaving your abilities behind and resulting in a weak character.
Another thing, starting at around level 20, you will be transferring to maps other than your headquarters map for decent exp and PT's. These maps are neutral zones... players from other races have access to these maps, and from time to time they will raid these maps.
So basically, the game is a mix of partying and soloing: party up for bosshunts, fast exp, and pvp. Then go solo to catch up on your abilities.
Hrmn... definitely sounds interesting... wouldn't mind trying it out (hope there's a free trial available or something!).
One thing I read though, it mentions that the goal is to capture the control of a mine by defeating the other 2 races... What happens when 1 race does gain control of the mine?
Also, is it even possible to communicate or work together with the other 2 races? (eg. could 2 races organise to work together against the 3rd race, and then battle it out between the 2 after the 3rd has been mostly eliminated)...

Hey Papa, that information is partly right. But 2 straight days to get to level 36 is a hell of a quick leveling, and im pretty sure you proberly played in the PH beta. As you noticed Our RF online will be diffrent from theres if you read more of the official boards. And we are meant to be getting the better diffrences. I also managed to play PH beta but not for long, due to my IP. And i can tell you one thing, This Game is like no other mmorpg. So hectic and amazing looks. I would reccomend you all try this.

When one race captures the mine, they get to mine ores etc from there and their prices for items from npcs go down i think, Not sure because when i played PHRFO i only got a few days on it. And i didint use the time wisely.
The only way i can honestly describe this game from my experience in the Chinese beta is.. Lineage 3 in a different setting. Most of the things about this game reminds me purely of Lineage 2 and i don't know if this is originally designed by the same people, it's obvious that they have implemented a LOT of things from L2.
I have a problem. My friend from china has an beta account that I can try. and for whatever reason they decided they wanted to block all IPs from Canada. Is there a way to make the game think I have another country's IP so I can play?
Haha yeah, theydone with with the philipines beta, blocked US ips to stop them accessing the game. Luckily for me, i live in the UK, so i don't have that problem .
There duth be a lot of spelling errors on that page...
Makes me a tad nervous about "official software"...the features list is sooo badly written. I'm not perfect, I know that, but when trying to pep up your software you'd think they'd be concerned with that.
I have no idea if it works, honestly, I'd shy away from that one.

Does anyone of you guys know whether or not it would be fun to basically play with two people together?
