I bought Guild Wars not too long after it launched, but I only played it for a little while. Partly because of the inability to solo the game at all, but mostly because if you're being forced to group, you don't want to be put in with a bunch of immature asses. It seems like this game is so full of them it's sickening. Now, maybe it's the fact that since there is no subscription fee, any little rat who whined their parents into buying it can play, but it really ruins the game experience.
Personally I don't think this game should even be on this site since it's not really an MMORPG, but I know this has been said before. I just want to post this for the more mature (probably older) players out there who want a real MMO to play. Skip this title, and move on to your next possibility.

I agree and disagree with parst of your comments. I have soloed a good majority of the game just fine. For me anyway, a good way to do it is make sure you call your targets (ctrl+space or whatever attack you are using) and your henchies will go to that target and start attacking. It helps to concentrate the firepower. Yes it gets difficult at times, but not impossible. Finding what combo of henchmen to compliment your playing style and character class is part of it too. If nothing else, farm for a while for materials, get the best armor you can afford to help you along the way.
As far as the maturity level of the people that play, I will agree with you that there is a lot of immature people that play, but I just ignore them. It can be hard at times, especially if you are in a group and they don't understand team dynamics, but in that case I just leave and find a better group. More often then not I've found positive players. Maybe that's becuase I play when I get home from work around midnight 1am and most the kids have gone to bed.
Good luck if you chose to play this game again.
Unless you play on a RP server for most games, you are going to run across your fair share of immature players in whichever title you enjoy playing. From playing a couple MMO's I do not see an extreme increase in the immaturity of the GW community. As for the grouping aspect of the game, I find it no different than real life, just like groups in school, there are going to be leaders, slackers, followers and complainers. Have I been frustrated with a group before yes, but that is why I like to lead a group and talk to the people I bring along so I know who I am going into battle with.
The ignore list should suit you fine if you really have a prob with another player.

I soloed about 90% of the PvE quests and missions. So, solo is very much possible and I'd say I have had better success solo then in many PuGs. But I soloed mostly because of the amount of immature or annoying players... so... hehe.
Best you can do is get a guild and only group with them. I haven't done a PuG in PvE for probably 2 months. If you go to a mission zone and there are hardly any other players around... that most likely means you can solo the mission or skip it. I don't think their is any mission or quest that can't be done with two live players and hechmen (excluding some bonuses). So if you don't want a guild at least make 1 friend.
I agree with the OP. The game was designed for: a) People that want to play something when they have nothing else to do, and b) people that already game together anyway. This doesnt lend well to a mature community, because everyone who is mature seems to already be in a guild, and doesnt interact with anyone on the main servers. The only "community" are the people that arent in guilds, and there is usually a reason for that. Everyone else is in a micro-community that consists of themselves and their guild-mates.
GW is noticibly more immature than any online game I have ever played. Having people that can at least control their behavior, and being able to report players in-game seems to be well worth the monthly cost of most MMOs, now that Ive played one without any of those.

just like real life , is the better description i have eard , i know many people that play with local chat off. guild chat and friends list is there comunity as said. but imo its not hard to see who is mature and who is not , by the kind of language they use , simple text line can say much. and young kids not always mean they are rude and stupid , i was in a guild for a wek or so that the guild leader was 14 years old , most of guildies were that age , we won a few gvg matches and reach hoh in tombs , i can say that was the guild i learnd more about pvp. after i went back to my own guild cose im more into pve.and they were pvp freaks. most of the times this imature kids want to have as much fun as possible in litle time , so they become excited with the online situation and spam all the crap we know , but when we get on mission , its possible to show them , serius atitute makes team go further.
if you dont like kids , dont play games ... do extra hours in your job , your boss will love you

Never! You don't know what it's like to try to get a 89 year old lady to boot up her computer when you're talking to her on the phone. Press the button, "which button?"

I take you didn't stayed long enough to know what Henchmen was for? You can easily solo the game.
Also for your information - The further you go in the world, from outpost to outpost, from town to town, when you get to the end people are really nice. You know why?
Because it gets so complicated and hard that all the ROFLcopter retards and losers and racists are totally lost behind and won't get invited again. Standing in post searing in the beginning and complaining - Of course its going to be full of idiots. its also a f2p game. But all newbie zones in almost all games have bad communities.
You make it sound much worser than it is. An immature playerbase is one that corpse camp players, one that is full of ninja looters, kill stealers, griefers and so on - Thanks to the instanced nature all this is gone for.
1)ignore and do it by yourself with henchies.
2)Its so easy to blame everything on others except for yourself. "ohh they all suck. im the only one who rule. they are all immature". Do you even know how generalising you sound? Like you can speak for the behave of over 1 million customers in the US and EU alone?
3)Have you tried going to international districts?
This is not SWG - It was not made to be social. The game was meant to be competitive. Finding a nice guild and start getting ready for pvp. Trying to climb the ranks, learn the ropes and exchange strategies and builds. This is were the awesome community comes in. Its in there but its not like other games. This game doesnt have player housing or crafting. It is a very combat focused game like diablo. People just have to accept its action centered nature. The developers never stated this game for being a MMORPG.
All the online games i've ever played have immature players and im sorry to say of all ages. Through choice you dont have to interact with anyone you dont want to. Its a basic thing i have learned and doesn't just apply to online games .........I never let my enjoyment of anything be spoilt by anyone, if it is in my power to do so. Its a shame that you have let yourself be bothered by such trivial things and miss out on Guild wars which in my opinion is one of the better online games
There our to many kids on this game but they do have the right to play the game as much as us old farts do. I think they should make other server for old farts and one for kids this would sort that problem out. Or if you want to be mean charge £2 and this will remove 50% kids at east but not break the bank for old gits.
Shame there not Kid filter we can select *lol*
As for Solo play: I'v played EQ, EQ2, SWG, UO and many others and found this is easyist game to solo I'v ever played. I have herd some one soloed the whole game.
