Archage or WoW?

I really don't want to start a fanboy war nor Start  arguments Im just asking for opinions, No one is wrong or right im just literally stuck right in the middle of the two, and this is just for the people who have played both if possible. I know neither of the games are the same but if you could give me your opinion on which you think is better and why. As also the replay value you give on it. I would greatly appreciate it thanks !

Pretty much this, besides which, Archeage is a very 'niche' game, and despite it being a Themepark, much as WoW is, its a very different kind of Themepark simply because of the games focus being PvP, and that is something that will inevitably mean that the game does not have the 'broad' appeal that WoW has, where the PvP is structured and very much a matter of choice, seperate from the rest of the game, one of the reasons why it has kept its title of the King of MMO's for so long, if Archeage were to compete with WoW, then it would have to change the focus of the game, which is unlikely, and given that the percentage of the available playerbase that likes PvP focused MMO's, is much smaller than the percentage that likes PvE focused MMO's, then there is almost no chance of this changing. Archeage is designed to appeal to the PvP players, in much the same way that Eve Online does, and while this is very much a valid design choice, it does mean that just like Eve, it will inevitably have a much smaller playerbase when compared to those games that concentrated on PvE, but smaller compared to WoW can be still quite big, and Eve Onlines playerbase at 500,000 players is not really all that small.

But your right, if you like one, you won't care about the other all that much.image

If I had to answer this as short as possible I would say:

    Archeage is very open world

    WOW is very instanced

Both are great and have TONS of stuff to do every day.

Its not a perfect answer.  Everyone else will probably elaborate and make a much more vivid picture.

edit: As far as replay value.  WOW loves to be replayed and you can a few times without doing the same content over.  In Archeage there isn't as much of a point to replaying it.  Theres not much you can do on your alt that you can't do on your main.  Including playing a different class.  Instead of replaying most people just keep playing the same character.

That would really depend on the individual, I love WoW for its progression raiding but can care less for instanced battlegrounds.

This is where ArcheAge comes in packed with a more sandboxy style end game pvp that I enjoy greatly.

@OP it really depends what kind of game you want to play, I can highlight a few major draws from each game though and you decide, google/youtube/twitch etc might help you make the decision as well.

WoW-  Solo friendly, Fairly quick quest based leveling, Plenty of casual PVE content,  Plenty of difficult PVE content (not so much at the moment however, currently waiting for next expansion), ranked arena pvp, ranked battleground pvp, Varied classes each with 3 specializations each, tab target combat.

AA- Group oriented, Fairly quick quest based leveling, Sandbox style open world pvp, Arena pvp, Exp loss and possible material loss death penalty, Various factions to align with- West, East, Pirate, Individual nations, In depth crafting/gathering/farming, Jury system, Non-instanced housing and land claim, Tons of skill tree combinations to choose from to make up your class, tab target w/ combo system.

    World of Warcraft

    1. game that has been out for 10 years. This means lots of expansion and time to dial in, so you know you are not getting a bad game.

    2. There are many different races, class choices to choose from and a fairly large game world to enjoy.

    3. It is very theme park oriented in that, you go from hub to hub questing and eventually end up chasing minor gear upgrades through high end dungeon content and finally quit after doing said dungeons 100x until the next expansion comes out.

    ArcheAge

    1. game is soon to be released here and has stumbled a bit with bad patch choices in other countries. Has a good publisher behind it and some generally great future growth potential in many directions. Almost ready to go into beta. Will be free to try but if you are serious about it, the subscription model will make more sense.

    2. There are only 2 races from each faction to start with and more announced for future content updates. The class systems in this game are more open ended basically giving freedom to pick and choose armor, weapon, and 3 classes and build a character how you want to. Also you can change back and fourth between classes and not lose progress if you decide to switch back. This world is fairly huge and seamless. The only exception to this is dungeons which are instanced.

    3. It is a mix of old and new. The questing system is there to guide you along for as long as you want to kind of almost a huge tutorial of sorts. There are many many crafting choices and crafting has far more impact in this game than others and is quite deep as well.

If you get into WoW and have never played it.....

You will take at least 9 months to properly see most of the game and try out most of the dungeons and quests and areas and maybe even a few alts.

If you get into ArcheAge you may either.....

Play through the quest system and then get into the huge crafting systems and get a house and boat and get into the trade and pvp and have fun with it. I believe there is much more than a simple 9 months in this game since it is up to players partially to generate the fun and through the game systems, basically I could see years of enjoyment from this game.

Depends... you planning on playing either this week or next year?

You can play the trial of WoW for free and the game itself can be as little as $5 depending on sales and that comes with 30 days of free time.  AA has a buy in option unless you go Russian or Korean server that eclipses the cost of WoW.

You can buy into early access to AA for about the same price as almost a year's sub to WoW.  Of course if you get bored of WoW, you can save yourself the sub.  If you get bored of AA, money gone forever.

WoW is an actual game.  AA is still in alpha.  By the time your friends get to play it, could be a year, you might no longer care to play it with them.  With WoW you can play together now.

Personally, I'd wait until the game is released.  If you've waited this long, you can wait a little longer.  The game is still going to be the same game later.

those two games are polar opposites, on one side you have WOW the king of themeparks, and on the other you have the new sandbox mmo that so many people have been waiting for.

    archeage:

+sandbox. (that is a + for me, for other people it may be a -)

    + very exciting pvp system.

    +very in depth crafting system.

    +a vast open world.

+a big pannel of jobs that you can do going from treasure hunter to farmer.

+extensive class system that lets you combine three classes into one. you can max all classes and thus change your role (after some months of farm^^) whenever you want to.

+trade routes, this involves a lot of things... gold, PK, masses pvp (merchants vs thieves), ...

+you can level up with whatever you want: crafting, farming, grinding mobs, collecting stuff, questing,...

+the sea is not wasted land, you can trade in seas, pvp, turn into a pirate, WORLD bosses, treasure hunting.

+fortress wars in the northern continent which are epic sometimes.

-no pve whatsoever, there are some instances that are completely linear and boring. they scaled the difficulty of the mobs to an insane level to lure the players to think these dungeons actually are worth something.

-world boss fights are just spamming skills from a safe distance, nothing special, you just stay there spamming your skills until he dies or he wipes your raid.

-unballance between melees, distance, and magic.

    WOW:

well not much to say here, this game has lasted 9 years, and will most likely last much much longer, it has everything a themepark can offer.  be it pvp, pve, or anything else as long as you want a themepark, go for it

ha by the way, AA will be free after release, but if you want to play now, you will have to buy a founder pack, the prices range from 45 to 150 bucks
