"Which reminds me, I know a lot of players have been concerned this will be like back in the day, where one player or party would claim an enemy, and lock everyone else out from getting a reward. You'll be happy to know that the Hunt was not designed with any such claiming system in mind. In fact, some of the elite marks are so powerful, it would be in your best interest to shout for help before trying to lay a hand on them. I've also heard the more elusive elite marks drop rare items as well. These rare items are distributed on a player-by-player basis, so don't hesitate to reach for a helping hand."
I did start playing FFXIV for like 1 week ago, I did resubbed my account. FFXIV it's a really awesome game. I did play other MMORPG, but I did feel FFXIV it's the best right now because of the all new contents.
2.3 it's coming out the hunts and much new housing and Frontline(PvP 8v8v8) 2.4 it's a new class coming out and job class.
This new FFXIV MMORPG it's awesome, great raids and everything. Right now it's 2.2 millions players that sub/playing.

Just so the lurkers/trolls/flamers living on this forum do not attack you for a simple misunderstanding, I'll clarify that the 2.2 million adventurers refers to how many people have bought the game, not current subs.

Hunts are my cup of tea and so is pvp that makes sense. Many games try to do to much with pvp, 24v24v24 doesn't sound like overkill, which means quality won't be sacrificed for the sake of having hundreds on screen at once. Looking forward to this. My PS4 choice is paying off more and more everyday. FFARR is a class act and in my opinion underrated, especially on console.

Elite marks aren't that great. I only tried one for a little while. Aperently the one that's on the hunting board for this week on my server is in coetheas central highlands. The mob is shared among everyone. He's said to have a respawn rate at around 30 minutes, and can literally spawn anyware in that entire zone. Also the mob dies literally in seconds. He's extremely squishy.
I tried an elite mark once, and quickly decided I wasn't gona bother with that feature and focus on everything else they put into 2.3, oh plus I still need leviex and mogex to do still on top of it. Oh and crafting, which I havnt hardly touched.
I'm gona treat elite hunts like I did fates. If I happen to see one while doing other things i'll take it on, if not I'm not gona bother with it. Hopefully the'll fix elite marks soon
Originally posted by Foomerang I would imagine they are going to hotfix the health and/or defense of these marks because they are literally being dropped in under 5 seconds.
I alerted my FC to one the other day and it took a group of 6 to drop it in under a minute. Even thought I was level 37 at the time, I still got allied seals to drop even though I can't use them till I hit 50.

Yeah I saw the giant tonberry in bronze lake get rushed by about 30+ people yesterday. I think it maybe got one ability off lol
The Hunts are kind of bittersweet. On one hand, linkshells have formed on my server dedicated to tracking and killing the Elite NMs, which have brought together people that may have never interacted with one another previously. (yay for building intra-server community)
On the other hand, you have these impatient people that just attack the thing while people are trying to coordinate people getting to the NM so they can get credit for the kill, which in turn has everyone blast the NM out of existence within 10 seconds and then the butthurt starts in shouts because someone got an itchy trigger finger and couldn't wait a minute for more people to show up to get credit.
I was reading the Dengeki article on the official forums this morning and it seems like it was Yoshi-P's intention for people to group together and kill these things, so really the best solution at this point would be to give these NMs more health or create a scaling health system based on how many people are nearby/in the zone or something.

I think they will fix it like they fixed frontlines.
but also remember there is rank B, A, and then S. rank S never killed in 10sec, it takes at least 1min. and some of those rank S have wiped 50 ppl at once so yea.
The hunts convinced me to resub a month and give the game a try again, even with real life going on (got maybe an hour and a half a night to spend on gaming / watching TV). Anything that moves away from the entire instanced hardmode and repeatable quest scene is a good one right now, especially given how the anonymity of the Duty Finder is mixing with the extreme modes. I just wish the game didn't play out like a single player game with coop and more like an actual MMORPG. The story treats the other players as if they are side kicks or don't even exist, even when the second player is outright better geared than you are and appear like a glowing nimbus! Then there are the end game raid instances that just leave someone scratching their head as to why the legion of players don't just zerg the living crap out of location and take down the bosses en-mass.
It's like, give the adventuring population about three weeks and they could reduce Bahamuts Coil to a sight seeing tour for the locals.
Edit: My advice to anyone returning is this: don't expect the game to really spin your wheel around. The first few moments back is going to be you staring at your character standing around some forgotten location, most likely without a Free Company depending on the policies of the one you were a part of, having no idea where to go or what to do. Next thing you'll probably do is go to revenants toll to find a bunch of quests staring you in the face and then come to the realization you have to run all over the place to unlock all the fun stuff again. The hunts and Elite marks are basically in the same boat, unfortunately.

If only the freaking marks had more HP so they could survive more than 30 seconds I might actually see one.
