how many players are actively paying for this right now. i cancelled tonight cause of the many bugs, issues that SHOULD have been addressed way back in 2003.
So i predict SWG to be pulled June 2006.

I hope it dies in Feb....and if it doesn't then I say it lasts through 2007 and beyond. SOE/LA will keep it going, they'll have to cut costs to do so but they'll do it.
They will keep it going untill at least SWG2 is announced (which, if SOE's license is re-up'ed in Feb its all but guranteed SOE will also helm).
The sooner the better...

The servers could be queing players and people here would still be saying the game is dead and empty

So SWG has the "same" amount of players playing than WOW has?
SWG is a dead mmorg. these people still playing are mostly new players, trust me once they been in for a while they will to leave.
I just trying to get my brother to leave. christ, hes ground out every single profession twice now!
Admittedly some servers do have quite a few players. But alot of servers dont. I have toons on four different servers. Only one of those has a decent population. The other three are literal ghost towns. I can play for hours during primetime and not see more then 5 players in the main areas. But on the one populated server you cant spit without hitting someone during primetime.
To say there isnt anyone playing is wrong but for someone to say its up to the original numbers of release or JTL is dillusion at best. I seriously doubt there is more then 200k players in this game. More like 100k.
100k players divided by the number of servers is what? About 4k average per server. This would seem quite reasonable given players will tend to go to more populated servers.
I have my own "Dev Connection" that I farmed since I got back. He wont tell me actual numbers or even say if the game population is bad or good. But he has let slip, if something doesnt change by the end of this quarter there will be a serious look at the game and quite possibly a closing of the game or a return to Pre-CU. However there has been so much money poured into SWG that a closing would be the absolutely last thing they discuss as it would definately kill any chance of a SWG2.

The populations are scarce. That's a fact. Anyone who claims otherwise either shows a picture with 8 people in Theed and claims it is a population explosion.. or just spouts self-denial.
To argue the game isn't dying is like claiming there are WMD's in Iraq.

Lvl 90 Spy and Lvl 70 Smuggler Post-NGE
It is not hard to level, but once you get there and realize what a buggy POS they pushed on everyone you can easily find something else to do. ( I didn't exploit either ^^ I spent alot of time grinding while x2 xp was out)
I played release for 1 year before the CU came out. The NGE made me think about coming back, but all I can say is WoW. This game was not finished! I hate the fact that they have to push expansions that cost $ and don't work for the most part, or are generally lacking in conent.
This game is pretty old though, so you can't expect it to last forever. RIP SWG.
Favorite post-NGE moment - solo-ing Necrosis for the millions of dollars worth of Banes Hearts without even getting hit (gotta love this dungeon)
Killing Necrosis alone is like Chuck Norris doing a round-house kick to Ragnaros' face in WoW btw
To all those still playing... RFO is sci-fi based and thats where I'm going. LA/SOE are too greedy to be a decent publisher of MMORPG's.

I'm sorry? Since when does a game have to have the same amount of people playing as WoW to be 'not dying'?
I'm not saying SWG is thriving or dying, I honestly don't know since I don't play. Do you? Have you logged in and looked at a server select screen during peak time to see what the server loads list at? No? Then shut up.
ALL of you, not just this guy. Unless you go look at a server load screen and honestly evaluate it then you have no grounds to say whether the game is crowded or not.

You know i couldn't care less if swg is thriving or not , dead or not how ever you wanna look at it . But i see you make so many posts about it .. Do you play do you have an active account ? No... I don't waste my money on SWG, but I have 3 friends who need an intervention to give up their characters, and they tell me in vent all the time. I even logged in during the free time to give everything away, and the servers were barren.
Then some fanboi posts a pic of theed with 10 people in it and says "Boy! There's TONS of people!!!". Patently wrong. There should be 3 times that easy.
And I feel the need to rant about SWG because it is more fun than the nge. If one person doesn't buy that steaming pile from reading the criticism then my job is done.

Let them make their own damn opinion about the game.
Have anyone seen that the SWG game card are not being sold anymore, might the start of the end for SWG. Thats what i heard atleast
You know 3 people who wanna leave ? i know over 200 that did leave , Look them up on WoW . The Dreaded Axis Laughing Skull horde . All SWG players from Bloodfin who left with NGE . Yet that is still not a Portion of the overall game population as it stands now id guess maybe 40k people . 200 isn't even a smudge off 40k .
Im not saying the game isn't dying it very well may be . Posibly 5k or so that are on Pre -paid plans Still will leave , that leaves 35k or so which isn't much but its still a player base . Again i ask what is it that drives you ? I hope you show such passion in your everyday life you would most likely be very successful . But seriously why not lay it to rest ? Let those who truly like the game post without taking ridicule .

Because SOE's antics should not be supported! Because the trend for gamers to pay for BETA versions of games must be stopped! Because a game should never be taken away from a certain demographic to be given to another one!
