Now that the beta phase 1 has started is there any ony that is hosting the client for download. I know you can get it from file planet, but you need a beta key to get it. I was hopping to get a head start on the 1.2 gig download, because my connection sucks.
Unfortunately no-one outside of Beta Phase 1 can get it. CM said that they will be sent the link for download and that the download will only work once per link. So they can't even give it out if they wanted ot.
The point of making the cleint limited right now is to limit the number of people in game. At this time anyone who has the cleint would be able to log in so if a rogue went and released the cleint they would shutdown the servers and release a new version, therefore slowing down the beta process. They DO NOT want extra people on there right now.. so please no rogue cleint downloads folks as it will just slow everyone down.
Ishida would you not still need a beta key to play it though lol. Or are you saying the beta key is in other word sjust sort of a link to get the game client, and if they gave it out ot everyone like non beta guys they could still get in? I mean if that is case someone better not do it I mean you should wait until you get beta key or phase 3.

You use your beta key to make an RF Online Phase 1 account, with a USERNAME and PASSWORD. You'll also get access to the beta client download. People are asking whether they can download the client ahead of time so that when phase 3 rolls around, they don't have to download it right at that second and waste valuable test time downloading the client, when they could already be inside the game world at that very moment (They'll probably have to download phase 3 patches, but that's way better than having to download the entire client from scratch...)
Just because they have the phase 1 clients doesn't mean they can log in, they would still have to have a valid phase 1 beta key to actually register for an account...

I can understand wanting to download it beforehand...however, I see a lot of changes happening before it's actually released to the public (outside of the phase testers and pre-releases).
Really, I would think you would end up downloading it twice, basicly with all the patches and so forth that will probly be added when they work on buggs, etc. Also, I'm assuming that once players from the US start playing, we'll be pushing for a few changes, IE movement, etc. *shrugs* You never know how much that file size may change. Just be patient, we're all forcing ourselves to be..somewhat

Once again downloading an update patch is much beter then downloading a 1.2 gig client so inless the patch is about the whole client size then downloading it early and patching is much better. Besides I doubt there will be much of an update seeing as the game have been out for some time in other countries. The only real issues I can see codemasters having are translation from koren to english and if the change some of the rates for drops XP ect. as stated that they might do to make it more friendly for our community.
