While I was interested in this game originally and I appreciate it being a beacon for successful crowd sourcing, the selling of what is essentially cash shop fluff and P2W items for prices that make a full game box price seem like a half price deal is currently transitioning from vaguely unsettling to disturbingly pertinent in my mind.

'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.

No game is more fun than the one you can't play, and no game is more boring than one which you've become familiar.

    OP finds it exciting.

Personally I find it sad.  Game could have been good, but this is a 100% turn off to me.

    ....

    Cash Shop in Advance:  Brilliant!

For the game, I predict a long, bumpy ride.

80 bucks for as a pixel ship? are you freeking serious?

Who is the guy or girl that will fork 80$ for a spaceship that should be possible to get in game by just playing the game?

If on top of this anyone tries to justify anything about this : You pay the game box + your monthly sub, so why should you have a need to buy the most basic things that comes in the games or the end game items that is suppose to show that you have put time and dedication into the game? " Answer : Pay to Win " .

Also they made $2,134,374 on kickstarter and then from there it was not enough so they kept going on there own website and are at : 86% of there goal to reach the $48,000,000. Yes you see the good numbers here i took them from there own website.

So you really think this is ok for them to sell things like this?

They've got a cash cow, and they are going to milk it as long as it continues to deliver those golden eggs.   ;)

This thread is starting to make me feel relieved that I never caught the Star Citizen fever...

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

Well i guess that is one way to look at it... It is after all fairly cheap for a SC ship... .. .

But it is still a bit insane... But heck what do i care.... if someone have the money and want to burn it on digital ships all the power to them. It is at least not as bad as a 80$ tab at your local wine merchant or Tesco.

This have been a good conversation

I was initially looking forward to this game, but with every new cash-grab promise of a ship that is offered for exorbitant prices I just get more and more turned off.  My interest has now waned to almost zero.

I am just glad I did not front up any money earlier in the development cycle.
