Pretty fair review with the exception of the class system and labor points. There are a total of 10 classes that you can mix & match to make a total of 120 different classes, which is very interesting imo. The labor points system always sets everyone off in one way or another. While I agree that labor points are used for a few too many things, at a certain point it simply doesn't matter anymore. I make tons of money everyday and rarely use anything near my max LP. Unless you are sport fishing all day everyday, then you should be fine. I do agree they should take out the LP req for ID'n items, and i'm sure a few other things as well, but that singular thing shouldn't take your review. It's a lot smaller of an issue than what you make it out to be. The game deserves a much better score based on your ratings with everything else. Just my 2 cents.

I am offered to make a character. All races look the same, one of them with pointy ears, other with catlike face. Whatever, I pick one and move on.

I am offered to customise my character, but there isn't much to customise. 8 faces, 8 haircuts, 8 hair colours, some sliders here and there. Whatever, I pick something that looks good and move on.

I am offered to pick a class. Standard Warrior, mage, archer, rogue, etc. Whatever, I pick one and move on.

Cool, the game starts, here's where I wanted to be. I advance a little, and when I see the first yellow exclamation sign I fear the worst. Yep, I'm in a quest hub. Yep, they asked me to kill 3 boars.

Control Panel -> ArcheAge Beta -> Uninstall.

Are you sure you want to remove ArcheAge Beta and all its elements? -> Yes.

ArcheAge Beta has been successfully removed from your system. -> Thank you.

Way to give a game a chance. Are you really arrogant enough to write-off a game that has you kill boars, maybe they did that to be ironic, because we all get the boar killing thing.....

Some of the most free  MMOs have you do this.

Mortal Online for example is not at all a quest hub game.  Its an open world sandbox for sure.  When you log in though the first thing you'll do is run a series of (optional) quests that have you ..  you guessed it.. kill some pigs.

EVE Online is known far and wide as the king of the sandbox MMOs.  Yet among the long list of (optional) quests you'll get at the start of the game is a mission to go out and kill a few boring easy NPC ships.  The EVE Online equivalent of the pig.

Then there is one or two very low budget MMOs that have practically no quest content.

Archeage doesn't present its quest content early on as optional nor does it do a great job of funneling you into the more free and questless areas of the game.

They did great by increasing the viability of leveling through activities that aren't quest related but then dropped the ball again by lowering our ability to perform those activities well enough and early on.  It is a failing of the game and it will lose players over it.  This guy could just be one of those players.  They could still turn things around a bit before release though.

Sorry, Archeage held my attention for about 19 minutes and I played for 3 hours hoping for a difference in opinion.  The game is a typical Asian grinder with more crafting...the character creation is terrible, think of a lesser but similar GW2 creator.  The story is garbage and the quests are on rails.  Combat is ridiculously poor seeing as no matter where you move the enemy can hit you with their magic.  There is no escaping.  Although old-school and fun, it seems more lazy than deliberate.

It's a shame because I was hoping the game would be good, but there was a complete disconnect the minute I connected and although I hoped for a change eventually....I never got one.
