No monthly charge (subscription) because the 1st 20 levels are single player. They are keeping it online to keep dupes et. al. out. After that, to play in the persistant world, you will need to pay.

Just bumping this one up coz it seems to be a very often mistake many ppl write.

And yes, the game is still played online during the single version but that was not the question nor the answear, it was regarding fee or no fee during the first 20 lvls of single player mode.

How long will it take to get those first 20 levels?

Generally, MMORPG's give you the first 30days free. Will the first 20 levels have enough content to last you at least this long?

Well the first 20 levels is the tutorial for the game.
Players are not suppose to count this part as "content" for the game,
as players demand tutorials to teach alot of the basics to the game as
well as to get it over and done with.

I myself hope that these 20 lvls will only
last till to a day or two.

This is a great move by Funcom,
    as it can potentially eliminate
    players who become confused
as they are thrown in the middle of a town
    seen in most MMORPGs.

Judging from the complexity and scope of this game, it'll likely take a fair amount of time to learn it. Some players will learn it fast. Some will learn it a bit slower. Hell, if its half as complex as AO is, I think even a hardcore player will require a bit more time image

You aren't playing in the online world when you play the first 20 levels (though you need to be connected to the servers so you can't cheat). Your 30 free days wont begin before you join the online world I would think, at least you won't pay another before that so would be strange if the 30 free days would begin.

Are you sure? Reading their forums it looks like you will be in the online world but basically in your own solo instance.

One of the toughest things I run into in regards to running a guild is having to train new players in the details of basic gameplay.

The fact that only one in ten typical recruits is ever worth my time, and the fact that many of today's mmorpg's are very complex, only magnifies the kind of effect this will have on my gameplay enjoyment.

If you read the forum title alone itself,
its obvious that its above 20 ::::20::

Otherwise the max level is 20 if your not going to pay to play at all ::::01::

I've read 60, but why does it matter what the cap is?

The lower and quicker the cap the more fun imo because pvp is more even and less exclusive. Not to mention less grind. One of the top reasons why people don't play mmorpgs is because of the unrealistic grind to become competitive.

    ...gahh AGAIN?!?!?

Why do we even answer these stupid topics, they need to be in the SPAM forums, sheez!!

I just hate lazy people who shout things they think people have never heard of...
and then get an answer and the topic is dead.

Before you make statement like that make shure that you have enough backround information
to mean somthing istead of just sjouting it and show EVERYONE that you are a stupid man...

    Cheers! I'm out ::::28::::

Max level from what I read in a descussion on the AoC forums was 80.  Now, how fast you progress through those levels is all speculative.  image

yes your right it was a tutorial thats why its for free..basically the logic is all new game commers tend to have a trial version for their players so that the players might involved more on how to manipulate the entire game..
