This isn't so much as a review as it is me detailing and going over a few of the things I did while playing the game. Full disclosure right now, I am playing in the ALPHA version of the game and on those servers. I didn't take part in the closed beta weekend event this time around seeing as how they kept the Alpha servers up for us during that time. So if you're going to make comments about how could I spend 150 dollars on a game, just know this: I can afford it, and I thought it was a good deal. Plus I get to test the game out. So it's a win win for me. I'll base what I've played on a generic 10/10 scale and go from there. Though to be fair the "grading" scale won't mean much since it's based on my opinion. It's just a easy to read number.
Graphics: 7/10 - Archeage is a very pretty game, from animations to combat actions there's a lot of detail put into the setting and it flows very well together. Emotes are well done and there's a lot of potential for roleplay throughout the entire game. You can sit down in chairs, light/put out candles, fires, etc. You can also climb trees, hop onto a friend's mount and ride with them and more. The game is very detailed. Areas are well done despite the globs of mobs trotting along the fields waiting for you to kill them. There are a lot of really cool nook and cranny areas that you can run into and just take in the beauty of the places you visit. On the highest graphical settings I'd say it's one of the better looking games on the market. At least when it comes to MMO. It's not overly stylized either which is a nice change of pace.
Combat: 7/10 - Combat is what you'd expect, it's standard faire like in most tab target MMOs. Despite this however combat rarely becomes monotonous or tedious experience due to the fact that you have a lot of skills to utilize in combat. By level 10 you've got three different classes and a large variety of abilities to choose from. (There are 120 class combinations altogether, you more or less 'triple' class.) For instance, I started out as the rogue type fellow, at level 5 I took sorcery as my second and at level 10 I took 'songcraft'. So in combat/group situations I can use my lute/flute to play magical tunes to empower myself and allies, I have a variety of spells to cast. Fireballs, ice arrows, earth shifting not to mention despite being a 'rogue' all of my abilities work while using a two-handed sword. So I'm using extremely fast attacks and dealing extra damage with a GREAT SWORD while backstabbing them. This in my personal opinion is one of the key features of this game, the class system and the freedom to create/play the class you want is fantastic. It's very open, similar to concepts like you see in Elder Scrolls. You want to be a mage who can wear plate armor and use a bow all at once? Do it. It works. It not be optimal, but who cares? IT WORKS!
Crafting: 8/10 - I can't really compare crafting to anything else but the games I've played in the past and that's a vast majority of the released titles out there. The one game I never did get around to playing and what I hear had some of the best crafting around was SWG. I don't know how this compares, but to me the crafting system is very enjoyable. Harvesting resources and going back to create your own armors/weapons is a fun, but "tedious" experience. I say tedious because I think it totally depends on the person. I don't mind farming materials for hours just so I can go back and craft a new, fancy set of armor or a weapon that Iv'e wanted for a long time. It's fun stuff. Crafting is in-depth and you can make a ton of items all of which as far as I can tell, stay relevant. Even during the later stages of the game.
Roleplay Potential: 10/10 - This section won't matter to some people but I'm a roleplayer. So it matters to me. Archeage is one of the best looking games to come out in a long time that looks like it has everything a roleplayer would be interested in. Great crafting, awesome setting, chairs and random objects that can interacted with in the world at any given time. You can create castles, homes, ships and a variety of other things. You can also learn other LANGUAGES. That includes enemy/npc languages which is a feature that is lacking in almost every game out there. I'm very impressed with this title when it comes to these types of features. I can only hope that a large RP community begins to gather around this game because it deserves to have one.
Cashshop: 6/10 - There is a cash shop in game right now but it's a early version. They've got some neat costumes, mounts and other potions for bonus exp while harvesting/crafting, to gain more labor points and the like. It's not that bad and if you enjoy the game and play it on a regular basis none of the items in that shop are required to enjoy the experience. Obviously the boosts will help you get there faster, but at the end of the day you'll never have a real distinct advantage over another person. Remember boys and girls, it's about the journey. Not the destination.
I've yet to get to any of the dungeons as of today, but I'm hoping to do by the end of next week. I'll update if possible. If you have any questions I'll do my best to answer them.

i like the transportation in the game instead of just magically teleporting all over the place they have things like the coaches and air ships i really wish they had some kind of npc ship to get to aroria tho ... i know people will say what about pvp but i still think it would be cool because theres stage coaches in pvp areas already
