I've played this game sence day one, names Anklebiter on Carbuncle server. As of recently starting in december the prices of high end items on the AH have increased in some instances 300+%. SH has gone from 6-7mil to 15 mil and the SH+1 is now up to 30 mil. The weskit body armor for blms hase gone from 1.8 mil to 12 mil in a little over a month. unexceptible? i think so. So far i've seen no attempt on SE's part to limit inflation and save the economy. Perhaps they are but havn't posted anything about it yet but in my mind they're to concerned with their up and comming expansion, but at the rate they're going they aren't going to have many of the high end good players left to play it.
I think there are a few simple solutions to this problem. A) Send everything back to everyone that has stuff for sale on the AH and wipe all the prices by reseting the AH Then make the max price at which you can sell your items 2 million gil and you can only have a 2% increase in your sale price over the previous sale price with no limit after that. This method makes it easy to stop inflation because it only takes 1 person to reset the sale price to 2 mil then it would have to work its way back up. however i feel that this method would piss alot of people off so heres the second method. Send back all the items for sale that are selling for more then 10 mil. Cap the AH sale price @ 10 mil and anything over that would have to utilize the Bazzar. It would slow the rappid sale rates of high end items on the AH and make the people that are selling the items would actually have to try to sell their items. This would take care of inflation on its own and would create a cealing for items on the AH while prices would still seem out of control paying 10 mil for it but at least you know that 10 mil is the limit and gives a person a goal to work towards.

Even if a letter was sent, nothing would happen really. The reason? Cause gil-sellers r also customers of SE. They pay the same amount of money as we all do to be in the game and therefore SE makes a profit. If they really cared, they would have booted them already. It isn't hard to trace huges amounts of money sent from one account to another on a daily basis u know. I had a slightly different idea though: What if various linkshells were formed dedicated to camping the NM positions where gil-sellers hang out? The would seriously put them out of business if there is competition for items they need to acquire in order to make those amounts of gil.
I find it weird for such a large company like SE to give into "terrorism" by gil-selling services. D-DOS isn't something THAT hard to counter for them. Still the dmg they have caused is great. I brought in a couple of ppl to my server and they came from Asura and they told me that crystals there r worth around 20k which is really bad. To me the whole thing is player attitude and nothing else. If players chose to PLAY the game rather then go about it the easy way then gil-sellers would be out of business. This game promotes team-play,not only party-wise but also among the entire community. Join an LS for crying out loud and form parties to camp NMs or ask for someone to synth u equipment. I personally have stopped relying on the AH when it comes to crafting. I buy my stuff from NPCs or farm them. My tactic is to have one mule on each town and buy stuff from NPCs accordingly. If I need,e.g.,Sandorian Grapes I get them via my mule in Sandy and send them to my main char. I know I can't convince all players to do the same but I can teach the new ones how and keep them from gil-buying and I'm surely going to rely on my LS for anything I need in order to have a good time in this game.
how are you going to camp or the win the claim w/o a bot? The gil sellers grow, they form LS... they become HNMLS. They have sky access....
the topic shuould be, "Gil Sellers are killing the game" for alot of us, it use to be fun to garden... now i cant and why? because all these jerkoffs are in zi'tah.... i frankly am very close to throwing the towel
how? simple SE added a 2 second claim delay on any NM/HNM which gives everyone a fair advantage on the claim especially if you have your own LS camping the HNM with you. You also have to know that there are pop timers and mob place holders. but once again this isn't a thread about gil sellers. if anything its about gil buyers / crafters and greedy people driving up the prices on the AH and how SE should deal with it instead of watching the economy out of control.
you can't camp to get yourself a scorpian harness, you can't camp and get yourself a igqira wesket, and almost all the other high end items all come from KS and BC runs which means its the individual player thats driving the prices up and not the gil sellers.
Example Vclaw use to be 6 mil, you can only get one by killing Vrtra (which nobody does) the Ash dragon (which nobody does) KS 30 which everyone does and by killing Genbu which all sorts of people do so why has the price gone up to 14 mil for a Vclaw simple, the normal people just keep bumping up the price.
Undeniably,gil-selling services r killing this game but the root of the problem lies within each of us. Doesn't matter if u buy gil or not. When u buy gil u support the gil-selling sites but if u don't try to camp the NMs and either quit or just make the best out of the situation then again u r supporting them. I know that it is hard to get the claim off a bot but doesn't hurt to spend an entire game session with 5 of ur LS-mates to try and get the claim. I don't know about u ppl but I take pride in my gaming and I do not wish to give into those who ruin it for me. There r stuff that I need which amount to 20-25mil gil with the current economy status. I have two choices then (since farming that money is out of the question): Either buy gil or hunt the NMs.
