It would suck to be in ccp's position with their eve subscribers. So many massive corps and so many bot accounts. If two or three of the biggest corps even suspend their accounts for a month, they probably go under.

Don't know about time frame. I agree with you on this and that's the irony of this situation. CCP cultivated their community to be the way it is and it's turned and bit them in the ass on more than one instance. On the other hand I doubt most the groups able to would to this extent because of how invested they are into the game. CCP would really have to do something to piss them off I think? Or maybe not?

Such a damn terrible shame. I knew it was coming for a long time, but it still hurt to read the official announcement that it got axed. I guess I'll have to find comfort in VtM: Bloodlines again one of these days. =/
The worst thing about this fiasco is that they also hold the WoD license, effectively killing any other MMO developers from getting a crack at it.

Time to add CCP to my very short list of companies to not play games from, killed WoD (I loved the vampire games), right along with the other company that killed the superhero game I played all the time, thanks NCsoft. neither of these games I felt deserved their (pun not intended) untimely demise.
Oh well plenty of other games to play.
I'm with you there. City of Heroes/Villains was awesome and it was my go-to MMORPG. That is until NCsoft shut it down so they could launch Guild Wars II. To this day, I always say that GW2 killed CoH/V because of NCsoft's apparent selfishness. They knew the original Guild Wars was popular so they decided to make a sequel MMO in order to siphon more money out of the franchise. Hell, even the Paragon Studios team fought to keep their game open, but NCsoft's greed won out in the end. I hope the PS team goes indie under another name and grabs the game back, similar to what happened to Hellgate. We former inhabitants of Paragon City, Rhode Island, and The Rogue Isles want our superhero world back!
Shame on you, NCsoft.
I'm also not surprised by CCP's decision to kill World of Darkness. They're way too heavily focused on EVE Online for anything else, and that right there is where their growth stops. If it's not the cutthroat world that turns new players away from the game, the subscription is. If they won't do anything with White Wolf and the World of Darkness license, just sell the damn thing to another company, then. They made a piss-poor move by promising a dark and edgy setting like World of Darkness only to pull the rug out from under everyone's feet. CCP's overfocus on EVE is the true reason for WoD's death, not "mismanagement." They're making bad decisions left and right.
Ouch, as if being reminded about WoD's demise you have to go and bring up CoH too. T.T
To be fair, I doubt GW2 had anything to do with CoH's demise. It's not like they assigned Paragon's devs to go work on GW2. And from all reports CoH was still profitable, so they could've even used that money to help fund GW2.
It was just NCSoft's all-around douchebaggery. Gawd, I miss playing Masterminds. >.<

So it's pretty common practice for larger companies to take you off your main role to help out elsewhere from what I've seen.
After CCP were going through a rough patch around the Incarna expansion I can quite imagine that a lot of the guys on WoD were pulled to help out. As long as WoD continued to get the second class treatment it was always going to end up like this imo.
...TheSecretWorld is a mediocre and lowbudget game...
Your opinion of course (I think TSW is great) but they did make and release the game, so smoke that!
The Secret World is awesome (to me at least), but even the devs have stated at least once that they regret not having a bigger budget and better tools. Or at least Joel did when someone was complaining about the graphics and outfits.
It has to be beyond frustrating, considering they have such a great concept, but lack the resources to truly make it shine.

I believe I commented on this elsewhere, but the real shame is that CCP has a lock on the IP -- which means nothing will be produced in this universe.
If they're not making it, they could at least let another developer have a shot.
