Reynad and Blizzard sad times

WizardryWizardry Member LegendaryPosts: 19,332

Yes i am sure by now most anyone who has played HS knows who Reynad is,he carries a lot of drama and umm how you say it...PJSALT lol.

Today he basically said he quits playing HS until Bliozzard gets the new expansion out,he is frustrated at how slow Blizzard is moving promising something for 8 months now.

I personally don't much like Reynad but i don't hate him either he is just sort of an odd character. However his anger, salt whatever did strike a chord with me,i carry his same frustration with Blizzard.

Blizzard has always been a second rate developer to me,i hate supporting them, they are cheap in all of their game designs and never put much profit back into their games. All Blizzard has done  over the past year to a game that has BADLY needed a lot of attention is nerf MANY cards of which 95% should have never even been looked at.

MY opinion this is a VERY small team working on this game.Perhaps being free to play it is not delivering the huge millions Wow does but this is a Blizzard problem not the games.I got equally frustrated with SOE and their lack of effort with the same card game.It is like all these developers come up with a rather weak but good starting point then never deal with issues after the fact.

Bottom line is Blizzard is SLOW,this game NEEDS new cards on a STEADY basis not a handful every year or so.We also need their team to properly identify the problem areas not just nerf every card that noob chat starts crying about.

Naaxramas will reinvigorate this game for a few months but it is Blizzard who is holding the game back,it could be an absolute GIANT of a game with some decent effort.

They said awhile ago that they were releasing it in July, its July and they said they are releasing it this month...Not sure the problem here.

Unlike other companies they dont just put out content when the people want so they can get sells quickly. They wait until the product is finished and then released.

Take some of the recent games that have came out that fell short because someone didnt want to tell their fans that the game was broken and unplayable.

I rather wait and get a finished product.

Reynad is an overgrown child and hearthstone is not even much of a game. Constructed is 100% RNG assuming both players have half a brain. Why anyone would give two shits about this as a competitive game is beyond me. Just give both players a set of dice and save a lot of time. The can release all the new cards they want, but it will always end up being everyone running the same decks with the same cards and the games being decided by RNG. The hearthstone channel on twitch is like watching a bunch of special ed high school kids gossip about nothing because the game is so damn boring and uninteresting right now.

Cant be a content drought if players still cant beat the content already released.

I almost started a new thread on HS and luck (which certainly already exists x1 billion) but replying to this is sufficient to ease my frustration... Firstly, I like HS - amusing use of Warcraft lore, ~7 minute games that still give you a sense of building on something (your decks, strategy), enjoyable strategies when the cards halfway cooperate. But, this is not a serious game that belongs on a big stage due to the tremendous influence of RNG (i.e. luck). In short, I've played against and with the meta decks with success, and have a very unorthodox primary deck that I've tracked over a month (68% overall win but varying strength against different classes). In constructed I casually climb the ranks until the season ends, and definitely am a "better" player than I was when I started - experience and strategy do count for something.

BUT, the role of luck has just about killed it for me. It cuts both ways. I've had a couple of recent sessions where I went 2-10, drew all the wrong cards, lost 90% of all the RNG rolls (example: knife juggler hits face 3 times instead of taking even one of the 4 minions with 1 health.) Or I've gone 10-2, and things happen like I get pushed to zero cards and my opponent is lethal, and I draw Leeroy and finish him - yes, yes, cheers, but it's a cheap win when I know I was outplayed. It's starting to feel like a slot machine. Push the button and see if you won. Boring.

I used to tell myself, well I/he/she got that great (lucky) card draw because of the wisdom of crafting a smart deck and having the card in there to begin with. That's a part of it. It's not all luck or all skill. I just prefer my wins or losses to turn more on skill than RNG. I can easily deal with someone being better than me, because I'll study what they did and learn. But there's little to learn from losing a RNG roll.

    Maybe I expect too much.

So...in response, feel free to recommend a thinking/skill game of any kind (other than FPS). I miss having a game addiction..

RNG is most definitely a factor even though many won't admit it.

The way RNG works you will NEVER even out at 50% .there will always be some that are in the top 10% of luck and some that will fall into the mostly unlucky area.I have never relied on luck in life because i feel i am not a very lucky person,i have to earn what i get, which is also why i don't buy lottery tickets.

a perfect example is the Miracle Rogue deck.I can play 10 games and not see Gadgetzan in 3-4 of them, while the top players playing it get not only Gadget but Leeroy 2x Shadowstep,Prep/backstab,perfectly timed Posion>Blade Flurry.

The same goes for when i have tried Ramp Druid,i end up getting mana buffs late game when i already have 9 or 10 so they become kind of useless.Even Token Druid it is almost legendary if i ever see the combo, while other top players seem to always have it when needed.

I believe this si why we see such a dramatic cycle of so called best of the best, imo they are simply taking turns with the RNG factor.Example at one time Ekop/Artosis /Kitkat were considered among the best, then we have Strifeco, now they all seem to disappear and Artosis has gone back to SC.Then we have Kolento/Reynad then Tides of Time seemed untouchable, then they run their course and get demolished. Now we have RDU i expect him to stay at the top for a very short time then somebody new will run the RNG mill.

The thing to remember about ALL gaming is to not strive to PROVE something or be the best but to ALWAYS keep it FUN.If FUN seems to be fading take a break which is why i have been watching more than playing of late.

That account of the shifting elites says a lot. And I definitely agree that it's time to do something else when the game isn't fun. I know I'm not alone on these forums in saying: I love gaming, I just don't love any games out right now.

I never get this arguement.  There IS a content drought as only those who enjoy the hardcore raiding element still have something to do if they haven't cracked it all yet, but for those who do the more casual stuff and do a wide variety of things, well, there's been nothing new for some time.  Keep adding raids every blue moon, but it doesn't meet the need of the casual.
