I would appreciate all the advice from those who are currently playing, regarding characters types and a overall summary of the game. I am strategic player and puzzle solver, in real live and in my game playing. Which characters appear to be more enjoyable, especially those characters who offer a support role. A overall summary of the game compared to any of the other previous MMORPGs except WOW.
Thank you all any input sent my way, Magni.

You're talking about DDO?
How is it advertised?...
Anyways, apparently people do enjoy the game... I don't though... I don't have any games to play ( was planning to buy GW)... And I haven't touched DDO for a long while now... I'm bored and I pretty much just look at forums now or looking for what other games there are...
In DDO, combat is essential... There's only like 1 or 2 dungeon I know that wants u to not use combat and allows u to not use combat....BUt in every other quest, combat is part of the quest... Kill 200 kobolds.. Optional quests tend to be kill this or that too... There's really no way to dodge it, because killing enemies opens up the door in some cases too... People say there's strategy/tactics, but there's really not much to it... In Guild Wars, atleast you're using different skills/spells constantly and changing to different situations alot more frequently... In DDO, the only real tactic is running behind a wall if an archer is shooting you( other games have this feature too...)... Also, if u don't have the feat spring attack (which requires u to level up quite a bit first) u suffer -4 to attack bonus(accuracy) if u move and hit, so you're supposed to stand still to fight... Seriously, this game feels really mindless and boring to me...
DDO is really just another hack n' slash to me, without all the cool variety of spells ( there's some variety in ddo, but too little for my taste, and they don't really have a reason, in other words, I use practically the same spell in about all situations, because there's no real need to worry about mana in most situations...)
Edit: did u see any screens of the puzzle? there's really only 1 type of puzzle, and it's connecting those light beams so that the lights all connect to the 4 corners... They're not entertaining and not really challenging... Maybe it will be for some people, but it's just too simple for me... Zelda: Ocarina of time, I enjoyed the puzzle in that game, because it required going over the whole dungeon and stuff... In DDO, it's right there in your face, and extremely simple...

O i haven't talked about class/characters in my other post...
The thing is, there's magical items that gives you the abilities to use spells... Once you get them, even if u are a fighter, atleast it would be more fun now, that u get to use them... The main healing class ingame is the cleric... Man, clerics are powerful... I enjoyed the cleric class in DDO more than the sorceror ( and in normal games, I'm the one using mage type classes and I usually hate using support types, or atleast I hate classes that are purely support)... ANyways, clerics can be good tankers, supporters, (they even have attack spells), and (well they can do melee pretty well too, if built that way and with buffs)...
LOL
Clerics are UBER in 3.5e D&D and that is a fact.
But it nice to see it translates to online world of DDO

Dungeon's and Dragon's does alot of justice to the original game. Probably more so then people currently playing mmo's expect. It is indeed instanced and centers around a single city. But if you ever played Dungeons and Dragons you would know that quests and adventures begin in a tavern city most of the time. It does seem pretty enclosing though since I love exploring. The instancing is definetly a better choice for the gameplay being offered in D&D. It allows you to take quests seriously and take as long as you want doing them; its definetly more personal. It allows the areas to be more set to the individual rather then 100 other people disarming all the traps and camping the boss at the end.
There is also some work done on other things to do in-game. Alot of the time when you solo you will be killing monsters. But for characters like rogues and mages you pretty much let the fighters do all the killing until your needed. Rogues do things like lock pick and disarm traps for the party; they pretty much suck at tasks they typically do in mmos (High DPS Melee class). Mages use really powerful spells or spells that offer a variety in gameplay. There is something though that limits mages from being overpowered messes as they are in other games. They have a set amount of mana so you can't run around nuking things. Mages have to have a little tact about what they do or they can't proceed on. If your one of the several fighter type classes you will be doing alot of hacking and bashing to the end. But typically you are also the main damager in the party which is nice.
