I'm some what surprised that I'm the first to post on this. I have come back to this game about a week n a half ago or so. The game has changed by leaps and bounds. Some would argue that it has lost some of it's charm but I have to admit that most of the changes have really helped the game.
The game is very entertaining whether your doing jobs from the job board (Quests), thumping for resources (resource mini game group or solo), or fighting chosen/bugs in different ares missions/incursions (dynamic missions).
The battleframe customization and crafting have been revamped so that their not as convoluted and much easier to understand.
The game is in a much better place and I'm looking forward to the content and system updates over these first couple months of release. If you've never tried the game or have tried it and let it go by the way side, give it another look. The game is extremely fun and seems to be just getting better!
I agree completely! Many of the changes were designed to make FireFall more approachable by a wider audience and for the most part are extremely positive. ARES jobs are typical MMO missions but differ in that they are superbly voice acted and introduce the player to a lot of great characters. The world feels more alive now. Yes it is an MMO but FireFall's world, lore, and especially its game play set it apart in a myriad of ways. There are both familiar and totally new aspects to FireFall that combine to make for a great experience.
NEW PLAYERS, there are going to be minor bugs. R5 is working dilligently to squash them as quickly as possible Noe of these issue will stop you from enjoying FireFall though. I hope to see a lot of new players come to FireFall. The community is helpful and quick to answer new player questions.
Its good to see that the game has gained new followers considering they alienated old players like me with most of the changes they made.
They deserve moderate succes for no other reason than at least they tried...
There is just so much to love about this new release version of FF, that its hard to fit into mere words. Just play it already!
ok you guys got me, I tried it a yr ago and wrote it off completely....downloading now
I have been playing since closed beta... until some month ago, when I gave up on this.
What started beeing announced as an horizontal progression skill based sandbox shooter with MMO elements is now a vertical gear grind stat based themepark MMO with shooter elements.
Not interested.
was in closed beta- stopped after capping ares missing a while ago...started now Ive been playing it since the 15th- and iam loving it.
they really turned this game around ala Diablo3!- iam happy to finally see the launch, hopin gto see more content!
- its got me outta WS for a bit!
My head smells like buzzing
I will say that I started playing this game back in late 2012. The game has changed a lot and a lot of the founders and original testers have been turned off by the change from sandbox to themepark. I for one do miss the old style of the game, however the new style isn't terrible in any sense.
There is more direction in what to do and a lot of the original things to do are still there. Yes, it is more themeparkish but I will say that I have yet to feel the need to lvl in a particular way. I know I do miss the constant attacks by the chosen, however it is still there. Red 5 still has some tweaks to do IMO, which would bring it closer to the original sandbox vision if they would do what I like.
However the core of the game is still there and I am absolutely loving it. Has taken over as my main MMO for almost 2 weeks now.
