Barrels will never be the same...

atleast not for me  Every month or so there is a small indie in pre-alpha I boot/patch up to see how it's coming. Last night was the night before update 1.3.3., a good time to do some patch downloading.

I got her all booted up and was pleasantly to see some progress. HOWEVER there were barrels and sacks all over the place that did nothing when I clicked on them!

For those who don't know ESO's world is nearly fully interactive almost everything you see you can pick up or interact with. From food on the table you can pick up and eat,  to armor on racks you can pick up and ware. It's the rare exception when you cannot pick something up. It's pretty amazing how fast I took this for granted.

Sadly, this is one of the things that make ESO feel like an MMO, but not an Elder Scrolls game. If you go into an armorer's shop in an ES game and just put on the armor he had on display, you broke the law and had consequences to deal with. It made you feel like you were interacting with a world, not just playing in one.

Can't tell you how many times I got chased out of Crate and Barrel, their security guard just don't get Elder Scrolls :/

Yeah, tell me about it. I got chased out the roadhouse the other day for snatching a guys dinner rolls as I walked out. image

Your mind will be blown if you ever play a real Elder Scrolls game. I suggest Morrowind. It's cheap and epic.

I agree and so does ZOS. That's why the Justice System is coming image

Have you ever played Shenmue? Still nothing has come close to that level of interaction.

I played Oblivion. I loved that game. It's what got me into mmorpgs, well it was the last step after years of PnP rpgs (when they were just called rpgs) and single player dungeon crawlers like Might & Magic.

I just looked it up. At about 2:45 the guy is interacting with a gumball machine. Pretty cool :)

    Try Morrowind.

Then all games will be disappoint.
