First 30 Levels and Beyond.

BinafusBinafus Member UncommonPosts: 230

I keep seeing the reviews about the first levels in the game when actually they are only a learning tutorial.

First 30 levels teach you a lot about the game.

You will learn how to get a mount, a pet, do tradepacks, get a farm, farm some, visit mirage, make a boat trip across the ocean, get a glider.

You do not have to do any quests ever in the game, I have leveled a character to 50 on Alpha by farming and husbandry only.

The 30 plus zones will have PvP in them, there are five stages to each zone after 30 they go from Peace(where you can not attack the other side) to WAR(you gain honor points for killing people and lose them for being killed)

A person that wants no PvP can visit zones to do quest when at peace, they can stay in the sub 30 zones and farm, do trade runs in safe areas, farm, do dungeons, get a tractor, there is a very in depth crafting system in the game.

There are also zones like Halcyona that have a war every 3.5 hours, this zone has two bases in it you try to capture the enemies while they try to take yours, from this you get tokens to buy a Warrior Necklace that will take a very long time to get max level on the item.

You have zones like Hasla which has a small area that drops tokens for level 50 shield, lute, 1 hand sword, 2 hand sword, staff and bow.  Which creates PvP farming these mobs.

What you do in the game is up to you, if you only want to be a fisherman and join the weekly fishing contest you can, if you want to search for sunken ships and raise them to loot the treasure you can, or join the arena and pvp small group only you can.

This game will not be for everyone but it has so much content that so many people that do these reviews are missing out on, for me this is the first game I have had trouble logging out of since Daoc and see myself playing for a very long time.

This claim doing the rounds that Archeage has a twenty or thirty hour tutorial seems a little desperate to me.
  • hikaru77hikaru77 Member UncommonPosts: 1,123

Is a Korean MMO, which translate into:

    • Grind.
    • OP classes on PvP (especially mages).
    • Strong players ganking weak players.
    • The 1 skill Kill on PvP or like everyone call it, one shot kills.
    • Grind.
    • a heavily gear based game
    • A Fluff paradise of useless things. (Like a Car in a medieval game, as an example)
    • Grind.
    • An insane amount of free time to be competitive or progress ingame.
    • And of course, more Grind.
Not even talking about Trion being just a publisher, so all the updates and xpacs are made thinking on the eastern playerbase. But to be honest there is a lot of people who love and play this kind of games on the western market, actually playing games like Aion or Tera, all of them F2P games, I wonder why?.

    I don't think so.

I think what people are actually saying is that the games first 30 levels shouls be treated/considered as a tutorial as this quest line introduces players to most of the core sandbox mechanics found within the game.

I see no issue with that at all, SWG had a legacy quest that guided new players up to level 20, then you could just stop questing completely if you wanted to. No different in AA as far as I can see.

What I do see however is a biblical amount of tears from supposed mmoRPG gamers saying they dont want to do 30 levels of questing in an mmoRPG before the hit the sandbox. Is quite bizarre.

Same when ESO launched, same with Wildstar too....

At least in AA you CAN choose to not do any questing and level up your toon simply by playing the game any way you want to.

Congratulations, with the exception of maybe one bullet point above, you have just described EVERY mmorpg out there, be they of Eastern or Western origin.

Not sure what you were trying to achieve, but I guess you achieved it :)

It was a Korean mmo but Trion changed tons of stuff to match our western philosophy !

And everything you "translated" is like a +10 for me <3

But you overeacted so much that your "translation" doesnt even come close to what it realy is.

But hey someone has to bash new mmo's so why not going full out on a "non"  wow clone :)

Actually it's sad ....without  a tutorial folks can't even function in a mmo anymore ,if a game isn't WOW or a clone 95% of the players are better just playing  in the forums

Newsflash, every MMO is nothing but a grind. In western MMO's you grind quests, dungeons for gear then grind raids for gear. Key to it is making the grind  so much fun you don't notice it. Do you consider doing 2 or 3 raids week in and week out  to grind for gear only to have that gear obsolete in a month a grind ? That describes a lot of western MMO's doesn't it?

    I miss DAoC

you dont need to grind gears from dungeon. if you wanna do it then it is waste of time.

you just need to kill 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 monsters to gather mats or gold so you can craft rng gear or buy one.

I got beta access, played a few hours, and had zero desire to continue or ever log back in.  I applaud anybody who makes it to 30 or beyond in this game for your ability to endure wading neck deep in dog poop.  Grats I guess.

Everything about the game is mediocre and/or boring and/or generic.  There is no point in this game existing.

The characters, skills, gear, everything are boring.  Questing is boring and typical with an arrow at your feet to show you where to go kill those 10 rats.  Snore.  The graphics are lackluster.  NPCs and dialogs are for children that like anime or something.  No clue, but it's all brutal.

On top of that it's Trion F2P, which is pure sewage, and which includes cash for gold pay 2 win (via whatever they're calling the patron tokens this time around (REX in Rift) where person buys token for cash and sells it in game for gold, and it boils down to cash for gold).

I can't remotely fathom why anybody is interested in this game - it's mediocre at best and surely one could do better with other recent crapfests like WildStar with pay 2 win cash for gold CREDD or ESO, or if you really want to live your anime dream and play a crappy MMO that isn't as crappy as this one, play FFXIV.

Premium MMORPGs do not feature built-in cheating via cash for gold pay 2 win. PLAY to win or don't play.

    Well Said Binafus!

Been Loads of Misinformation, or folks not understanding the game as a whole.

I am glad it is going to be a niche game.

Personally, I am having a Blast.

I hope those that dislike the game, find something that fits for them.

For the people who posted about the grind in AA you probably have not even played it.

There were 50s day one on beta, DAY ONE, so every time you post GRIND about AA you show your lack of information.

For those that say it is exactly like every other MMO the people playing know you have not played it very much if at all.

Let me take one small thing like fishing.

You want to fish so what do you do?

Well there is a quest to teach you how to make fishing line, a reel, a hook and build a pole, they then start you out with some worms, the worms come from growing bundles.

The as you get more skill you take the fish you catch and make chum, you get on a boat maybe your low level clipper go out to sea search for jumping fish, decide on lure you had to craft or buy from a crafter you then toss out the appropriate chum that is made from catching fish, then you fish, landing a big fish might take 10 minutes, then you have make it back to the dock with the fish and weigh it then you can sell it or mount it.

So you like fishing you can work towards a fishing boat, which will hold more than one fish you catch, you can join the weekly fishing tournaments for prizes,  You can get more gear to fish with such as rubber boots to raise your skill.

So you think all quests are a waste of time well fishing would be hard as hell to figure out without the quest, but you can just go get the stuff make a pole and have at it.

Is this like every mmo you played?

How about crafting balloon type items to raise a sunken boat you have found and once you do you can loot the treasure chest on it, done that a 1,000 times in a 1,000 mmos?

How about crafting a net to catch a Queen Bee, where you can put it in the BeeHive next to your house to increase honey production?

Play this game to 50 you will be HOOKED just like the fish, stop with the phony reviews.

Yep, yep ... and you can get together with your faction mates to strategize and plan tactics for a battle with the enemy faction and gank each other to extinction before even setting foot on enemy territory, done that a 1,000 times in a 1,000 mmos?

    Derp, derp!

once trion increase lvl cap to lvl 55. true grind festival will begin. you will be stuck at library and grind forever there.

XL changed few things with 1.2 patch however that's just minor. lots Korean players were saying that 1.2 patch is whatever that Xl cannot re-open the coffin for taking the game out of death

Have to agree here.  I got to like level 13 and yes I know you do not have to quest to still level up if you like farming and other stuff (but that is not that much fun)....  It was very painful doing the quest grind or just killing mobs to get to that level.  The game may be great for some but I keep hearing the argument that man the game gets great after level 30....

A good all around game should have you hooked at the beginning - not cause you to feel so much pain and then finally hit 30 and BAM it is fun....  Good luck Trion and hey it may work out for you; just not my cup of tea.

Playing a game for nine months you do not like is impressive or crazy not sure which, I made it to level 12 in ESO and I paid for it.

Seems most people don't make nine months on games they love.

I think they have learned a lot from the KR and RU versions of the game.

I'm hoping that the NA version will be the best yet you should give it a shot you could help the game in the right direction.
