State of AC

MightyUncleanMightyUnclean Member EpicPosts: 3,531

I'm feeling nostalgic about AC and thinking of trying it again.  I have a couple of questions:

1)  Do most people level through AFK macroing?

2)  Do people group up much?

3)  Is it true that the game is basically in stasis with no further development planned?

4)  Are there GMs available if you need in-game help?  Or is there at least a way to get support outside the game?

Thanks!

I can answer 3, as that is the entire reason they got rid of the sub fee.  There is no further development planned.  Other than that, I haven't even gotten in to play yet, just been doing a ton of research.

There is still a $10 fee. The game is going F2P, and the server client is being released for people to start their own servers. I also believe they are releasing tools for players to create their own content on their servers. I am definitely willing to play again once this happens.

OK, thanks for the info!  Anyone know about the other questions?

    1) Yes that is how I would say the majority of people level up anymore. At least part of the way. Some people still refuse to do it, but most end up at withered at some point.

    2) Yes. You can frequently see many of the more difficult quests being done by groups, and will often see broadcasts or facebook server community posts looking for people. (at least on HG)

    3) Yes. Barring a catastrophic bug popping up there is unlikely to ever be another real patch to the game

    4) No idea on this one

Thanks, Zoidberg.  What do most people do after they macro their way to high level?

I am hoping someone makes a progression server filled with PP Shadow Amuli (or Celdon like I had) PP Hoary Mattekar robes, and farming of the Lugian Citadel.

I just paid the 10$ and it just doesnt feel the same as it did, I played up til 2004.

Would love to visit Arwic before the meteor

Well I caved in and bought in for $9.99 last night. Just finished the tutorial, and had many flashbacks to my years of playing.

Will take me a while to get used to things again, controls, combat, interactivity, etc. but shouldn't take too long. It will be nice to always have that to play as a back up when other games are in maintenance, or just need a change of pace.

You're going to screw up your first avatar. Today, fixing it takes about 1-2 hours.

When AC started the only fix was to re-roll.  After about 4 years they put in a quest series that allowed you to untrain or train skills on about a 1 month cooldown for each change.
