Lineage II has entered the 'mature' state for MMOs these days and has proven its longevity. Recently, the latest update, Ertheia, launched. We had the opportunity to interview Lineage II's producer Nico “Cryo” Coutant to find out more about the expansion and about L2's future. Its always the same for me with l2.... its nearly a perfect game in a vacuum, but then bots and adena sellers poop aaaaallllll over it. Its sad, because l2 is to me as special a game as eve... and those who know me know what that means.
To anyone who hasn't played it, u owe it to yourself to try it.
Try to imagine it without bots and adena (goldgil) sellers....

I tried it and uninstalled it fast it's ugly bad controls wtf point and click to move controls like we are in the 1990s.
I bet in these forums no one plays it at all.

because the game is that old, welcome to MMOs guess you started the last 5 years or so.
and koreans still play the First Lineage, though the western servers for these are now closed.
but ever since they simplified the classes cutting the huge number it once was I feel like I don't need to look back again, kinda lose his sparkle to me for ever after it
if I would return to any game I would be back to Aion

I can tell you are a person who played Lineage 2 and saw what the real game was about.

Wrong 2003 in Korea and 2004 in NA that makes it newer game then FFXI which I started playing 2003 and was released in japan 2002 and it's world apart from this pos.

By the way if were not the bots and PvP script this would be the best MMO ever.
hmmm, well, I loved the game and played it for over 4.5 years.
However, they added all of these quests and the game kind of feels weird. Especially with the new starter zone. Also, I have a weird lag with the game which I am hoping will solve itself with better internet.
However, I still have it on my hard drive, and keep going back for bits.

i bet you played Diablo 3 and thought you were hot stuff because Blizzard made it as you clicked to move.
it actually pulled me from EQ2 and FF11 for about 2 years

Couldn't agree more. It's mainly because of these cheaters that I quit playing Lineage II almost 3 years ago (when it went F2P and GMs totally gave up on enforcing the EULA)
LoA & FoG parties to level up... I miss those days...
L2 is a good game, I just can't play it because I get some horrible graphics stuttering in-game.
I don't experience the stuttering in any other game and after some research, came to find that many people have the same problem.
If it were possible to fix the stuttering, I'd likely play again, but as it stand, the game isn't playable for me.
Sorry, but no thanks. New race, same barriers exist to be competitive in end game.
Adena black market + gold / level farmers exacerbate a system that is heavily gear dependent to be competitive.
Expansions kill MMORPGs. They keep having to one-up the previous release by adding more skills, more classes, more stats, more items...which ultimately end up destroying any semblance of balance that existed.
All the fun things to do in the game (PVP: Raid Castles, Clan Wars, Territory Wars, Olympiad Competition & playing the economy) are ruined by bots that farm resources 24/7.
Allowing players to purchase Adena (gold) on a black market depresses the value of Adena & purchasing power of people that only have a few hours a day to farm currency. Players with deep pockets will pay for said bots to level them around the clock & can purchase the best items the game has to offer.
If NCSoft would release a classic server for NA, providing a fresh start, and actively work to catch & ban botters, I'd give it a whirl again.
I think I remember you from the official forums, back when I was playing as well. This has always been one of my favorite MMO's.
i know exactly what you mean about the quests. I tried it out a few months ago and just followed the quests, I was level 4x in no time and didn't have to worry about earning Adena for my gear, it was a strange thing.
Are you using a G series mouse or something like that? I was having an odd problem with lag as well and it turned out to be the poling rate (something like that, what ever determines the speed that the mouse sends info to the client); I had to turn it down to a really low number (something like 250) in order for the lag to stop.
They made it a lot less of a hassle to level pets, which I was really happy about.
It is a question of fangs.
Ncsoft make it happen!
I bet I am not alone in being willing to pay a few bucks toward it as a way of keeping bots to a minimum
