Newbie (sorta) looking for game

SocrateaSocratea Member Posts: 6

Hey guys :)

I'm fairly new to MMORPG, so far only tried a few, and thought to skip my previous hit and miss method for some qualified advice from you.

So what am I looking for:

Fantasy, openworld, big on character creation and crafting. Exploring and questing, I prefer the "solve a riddle" quests to "killing the monster" quests. PVE above PVP. A good community, beginner friendly. Good graphics. Not too anime.

What I've tried previously: Tera: The questing seemed ok, but the fact that the characters look like they escaped a  dress-up-barbie game just didn't work for me. ESO: Loved it. Landmark: Seems like a great idea, I don't have to worry about monsters while I harvest, but the FPS issues are too much, so I'll wait till they've solved that part (hopefully).

Looking forward to your input, thanks in advance.

Guild Wars 2 would be absolutely wonderful for you. It's one of the most newbie friendly games and has an amazing community. The art direction along with the lore is also great. The quests won't involve much of solving riddles (there are a few though) but the quest system in GW2 is still fun nonetheless. There is no gear grind and so you can start fresh anytime and there is no sub fee. It goes on sale a lot as well.

I think greenmangaming.com still has the Heroic edition for $40 and you can apply the 20% coupons on it to get it for $32.

Thanks, I'm downloading GW2 right now, and from the info in their webpage it looks great, the spread of characters and roles, the focus on exploring and individual stories is really appealing.

    Good choice!

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)
