FFXIV Patcher in jap??

in Final Fantasy XIV

So saw they were offering a 2 week trial to FFXIV,  downloaded the launcher.. selected English,  go to register my free account and the text turned all japanese on me.   Cant figure out what the hell i type or where, or how i change it too english...

 

Working as intended?

    Probably not intended, no. There have been occasional glitches recently with system messages in the game appearing in Japanese regardless of the client language setting. But you can change the launcher display language, provided you're not logged in, using the drop-down in the bottom left corner of the launcher (next to the "meteor" logo).

    EDIT: Had to delete half the post as Japanese text turned into rows of question marks after hitting "post" despite being perfectly legible in "Preview," thus rendering the whole thing less than useful.
